Old Friends at Dream Chase Farm, Georgetown

#1 of 13 in Things to do in Georgetown
Old Friends at Dream Chase Farm offers a chance to get up close and personal with stallions that once proudly galloped on the turfs of Kentucky Derby and similar horseracing tracks. Boston Globe film critic Michael Blowen founded this working farm, which serves as a home for "retired" and rescued thoroughbreds. Dress properly and put on sturdy shoes since you'll be walking on muddy and grassy ground. If you're bringing children, keep a close eye on them and don't let them feed or pet the horses without consulting the guide. • On a lovely sunny day in April I had a wonderful visit to Old Friends. Beautiful farm honoring horses that have given their all in racing. So wonderful that these magnificent animals are well cared for and happy. Loved feeding carrots to the "guys". I became a donor after the visit. I will be back and encourage you to visit too!
  • What a beautiful experience! I have no real history with horses, and I can tell you these are some magnificent animals that are fortunate to have the good folks at Old Friends. Take the 90-ish minute guided tour, learn about the Champions (and others) that reside here and get your "horse fix" on. I consider this a must-see in the area.
  • Wonderful organization to visit. Great to see some of the horses that I have seen race over the years. They truly love what they do!
  • This farm, and the people that run it are AMAZING! The facility is well ran, and the horses and their history is incredible! My first visit was in 2017 to see Silver Charm, and I came back with my son for his 25th Birthday Party! Well done. Thank you for all you do! We will be back
  • We drove 5 hrs to tour this place & it was well worth it. Our tour guide was great with so many stories, histories of the horses we met and those in the cemetery. The horses were visibly elderly and it's good that there is a network of places like Old Friends for their retirement years.
