  • I try to stop in at a brewery or two whenever I'm on the road. While in the St Charles area I headed down to Penrose for a pint or two. It was pretty slow the day I was there so I had no trouble findi...  more »

  • Great sour beers from some former Goose Island employees. They also have a solid selection of ales and dark beer. I dig the logo also. They have a nice taproom and informative tour. The surrounding area is beautiful and worth checking out. Make this a part of your day trip away from the city.
  • OK, hard to get served. We ended up not getting the 2nd beer from Groupon tour because service was poor. Tour guide was very good though.
  • Fun atmosphere and lots of great tasting Belgian style beer. Relaxed environment, good selection of beer and you can get a sampler of 4 of their beers if you want to try a few different ones. The beers do not come cheep though. Also they do not take cash, card only. The beer is constantly changing so if you enjoy something it might not be there next time.
  • Really good beers. The tour is interesting and fun.
  • I had high expectations for Tom and Eric, two Goose Island alums, when they got the keys to their brewery almost three years ago. Walking into the totally transformed space today is an absolute treat. The beer is well conceived and we'll executed; all of it is good, and some of it is great. The atmosphere is pleasant, with both the pub and barrel room making strong positive impressions. Overall a highly worthwhile place to visit whenever in the area.
