The purpose of Friends of the Limberlost is to promote the Limberlost Cabin State Historic Site as an educational historic facility that fosters remembrance of Gene Stratton-Porter's love of nature reflected in her nature studies, photography, and novels; to assist the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Indiana State Museum and State Historic Sites, with the operation of the Limberlost Cabin State Historic Site; and to promote the development and restoration of wetlands by assisting and cooperating with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Nature Preserves.

  • A very quaint, small museum and park area. The museum is very well done, and offers tours of the area and the nearby house that belongs to an author who wrote extensively about the Limberlost.
  • Come visit this place. Lots of history on the Limberlost. Friendly staff. New facility is nice & much needed. Summer sing alongs are wonderful!
  • I had a most serendipitous visit here..learned about Limberlost and the author for the first time while looking for fall photography opportunities. I purchased several books from this author. so glad to have made this discovery..thank you Gloria Stevens Garrison Hamilton Ohio
