Watch artisans at work at Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community, a 13 km (8 mi) two-lane loop, which features a series of shops, studios, galleries, and cafes. Established in 1937, the community is one of the largest groups of independent artisans in North America, with over 120 working artists and craftspeople. Pick up unique treasures such as woodcarvings, hand-made pottery, stained glass, willow baskets, and handcrafted musical instruments. Observe the artisans during live demonstrations in their workshops. You can also enjoy something to eat or drink at one of the cafes along the loop.   • Many of the shops were closed or did not have items that were of interest to me. If you have all day and want to make many stops. it may be worth your time. Just wasn't what I thought it would be. 
  • Crafters are quality workers. Owned and operated by the artist. Pottery, woodcarving, soaps, jewelry, art...much more.
