  • We stayed here in a tent for one night. Site #20 is the best tent campsite, right on the river, grassy, large and relatively quiet. We walked right down to the river (Split Creek) and went tubing. Swi...  more »
  • This is a nice day trip for hiking and picnicking. The camping is great too! I wouldn't go swimming in Splitrock Creek as there are many cattle grazing upstream.
  • The park is relatively small, but peaceful, relaxing and with delightful sites around each corner. There were several trails that were relatively short and mostly easy to do. The cost of a day pass wa...  more »

  • Very nice park but in terms of trailer camping, the trailers pads are in dire need of regrading. This is our stop over on the way to Custer from WI and on the return trip as well. Every time we park the trailer here, the side to side leveling requires all 4 inches of lift from our Anderson levelers. On some occasions we've needed even more and had to use our stabilisers pads under the Andersons for even more lift. The true problem comes in when the passenger side of the trailer is lifted which makes the first step into the trailer a full 2 feet or more off the ground making for some very difficult entries and exits. But when we do finally get parked and setup we still have a good time in this very beautiful park with very spacious sites that usually stays pretty cool temp wise and noise free most of the time. Just please renovate the pads, everything else is so nice in the park but the camping seems to have been put on the back burner and forgotten about.
  • Had incredible cloud cover for some unforgettable pictures. Spectacular views and fun hiking for both families and free climbing enthusiasts alike!!! Quite a hidden gem for a small state park. The park ranger was comical, friendly, and very welcoming. My wife and I told ourselves we will certainly be back here again someday soon.
  • If you enjoy nature, this place will take your breath away. The river flows straight through the most beautiful rock formations. Make sure if you go, check out both sides of the river. You will see amazing views of the neighboring fields and barns. WARNING the road into the park is EXTREMELY ROUGH, MAJOR POTHOLES.
  • Great place to camp and lots of trials for everyone to explore and climb. The staff was very helpful and the facilities are also kept up nicely as well
  • I love taking the kids here they have a blast walking the trails
