This was an excellent museum. There were a great deal of very interesting exhibits. As a Navy veteran who served with a fighter squadron, and a student of history and technology, I was particularly in...  more »

Knowledgeable Docents, that is, volunteer tour guides make this Museum come alive! Each tour of the eight galleries are customized by the Docents, taking into account the age of the visitors, including children. You can learn as little or as much as you wish to about any of the exhibits and subjects represented by the exhibits. It is a good place to spend the entire day or just a short time, returning another day to see the exhibits that you did not see on that visit. Learn about the considerable history of Aviation that was and is a major part of the history of Long Island! They even have an actual Lunar Lander, that was part of the Apollo program! It is one of only two such spacecraft left in the world!

I've been to a lot of aviation museums over the years (thanks dad!) and this one is up there with the best of them. It's very Long Island-centric as you would expect but the sheer amount of aircraft and the variation is very impressive. The staff are very helpful and insightful; willing to share information and have a chat. The thing I enjoyed the most was Just how close you can get to many of the exhibits - we were even let into a couple by the staff that were sealed off. You can touch many of the things there too. It has a gift shop that is reasonably priced, although not as varied as some and although I never tried it I am led to believe the cafe is rather good!

Went for the retro video game night and they have an amazing set up there of old video games. Also the planes and plaques are great to look at.

It's ok ... base price is just the museum entrance everything else is separate. My 9, 7 and 5 year old were bored after an hour.(me too). If you like history and planes then this place is for you.

Fantastic staff. Awesome variety of events held there annually including pop culture, foodie based, tattoo, etc. The museum itself gives an incredible look at the history of aviation. Must visit. Great for kids. Café inside.
