Where to stay in Galveston

When choosing accommodations in Galveston, remember that the closer you stay to the water, the more you are likely to pay. Top prices usually get you a spacious room packed with modern amenities plus sweeping views of the Gulf of Mexico. You can save a bundle by staying away from the city's popular beachfront. If your home away from home is on wheels, consider one of Galveston's RV parks and resorts.

  • The fishermen were catching all sorts from small shark to bigger fish. You could see the dolphins close by as well. Have a meal and walking along the pier is free, well worth it.  more »
  • It's a lot of fun walking out onto the fishing pier. You see the most interesting creatures from the sea and dry land. These guys were catching stingray. In addition, Jimmys on the Pier is located the...  more »
  • I have been fishing in Galveston for the past four years but never tried this pier. It was awesome. Very friendly and helpful staff, nice little store with coffee bar. Clean restrooms and a clean pier...  more »

  • Good place with clean bathrooms, lots of space for fishing and friendly staff. There are several tables with running water to clean your fish and several tables to cut your bait, etc. Benches, lights and it is a very stable and safe pier. Inside the store under the restaurant you can find everything you need in case you forgot something. Prices to enter are fair and the pier has an overall clean appearance. Trash cans everywhere. The restaurant can deliver your food to your fishing spot. As far as fishing... It's a matter of luck and good bait. We have seen all sizes of fish being caught here.
  • great fishing spot. I lose the minimum amount of tackle here compared to any spot on the island for fishing. cleaning tables, running water, clean bathrooms and available drinks & food make this the ideal place for me despite the $12 fee.
  • staff is friendly. restrooms are clean. they have frozen bait and ice. the only thing about this place is that it can get really crowded on Friday and Saturday nights. I understand it's a pier and people are going to be fishing next to each other, but, people can't cast straight and lines are constantly getting crossed because of that and it gets old and annoying really quickly. I would try to get there around 5AM (on whatever day you choose) when the new day starts so you can get prime pick of the pier and fish before it gets crowded.
  • Nice place to fish. 12 bucks a person. They are adding a new restroom midway on the pier so you won't have to walk all the way.
  • Love fishing here...just wish I didn't have to pay full price for my wife who doesn't fish
