  • My husband and I rented Kayaks from Fever River Outfitters for the 2-3 hour self-guided trip. We found the staff to be friendly both when checking in and checking out. When we arrived at our launch point the van driver told us to pick a kayak and he helped us launch. When it was my husbands turn to launch the van driver made the comment, "Oh, you have the one with the broken seat, " and launched my husband in the kayak fully aware the seat was broken. I had a wonderful trip down the river my husband however was uncomfortable due to the imbalance the seat was causing and the fact that he was basically in a reclined position trying to paddle the kayak. Needless to say by the end of the 2+ hour trip he was grouchy and had back pain. We mentioned the broken seat to the girl who helped us dock and the office gal when returning our equipment. We were offered "Sorry about that" but that was it. They need better customer service in cases such as this. A partial refund or discount on a future rental should have been offered in my opinion. It is a fun trip if the equipment is in good repair. If you choose Fever River Outfitters be sure to check your equipment over and ask questions if you have any doubts.
  • Great Kayaking Trips! My wife and I have done two kayaking trips through Fever River Outfitter. We did the upper Fever River and Lower Fever River. I found both very enjoyable and easy, any beginner should be able to handle it. I think I enjoyed the upper part of the river more but both were excellent. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The shop is also nice my wife and I bought some clothing there. If you book a trip make sure you get there early like they suggest because they do not wait long for people running late as a courtesy to the rest of the group that showed up on time.
  • My sisters and I are in our 60-70's and try and do something different when we get together monthly. We were very excited to do the scooter to the vineyard trip. When we arrived the girl at the desk was snippy and told us the owner would be going out with us since she thought we wouldn't keep our helmets on. Let me also say that a copy of the waiver/agreement you sign there should be given to each and every customer coming in-but it wasn't. You are given then a quick lesson from the owner going around the parking lot 3 times. When she felt all was ok, she told us to go on without her and to keep checking the map - What! How you read a map after newly getting comfortable with a scooter is far fetched to say the least. She also did not want to go with us after we told her we had no map since we were told she was to go with us. That didn't sit well. The trip to the winery was lovely - it was a very hot day but well worth the drive. When we arrived, she hopped in a van and was just about to drive away when we quickly caught her to open the seat to get our gear out - she simply handed us the key. Upon retrieving us, she was a completely different person in her attitude-and I would expect it would be for the possibility of getting a tip. All in all, we loved the scooter ride, the vineyard was all right - but the demeanor of the owner and her staff left us not wanting to ever use their business again for anything.
  • Kayak adventure here we go! :)
  • HIGHLIGHT OF OUR GALENA WEEKEND! My wife and I took the scooter tour to the vineyard on a brisk fall day and it was great! The owner was very nice and accommodating. I had some experience riding scooters in the past but still found myself having a perm-a-grin through the whole ride. My wife had no scooter experience whatsoever and I was a little nervous about that but she handled the scooter quite well. The road to the vineyard was a beautiful jaunt through the countryside and we stopped a few times along the way to take pictures. We really enjoyed a small country church where we were able to sit on a garden swing for a bit. We had been to the vineyard before so we didn't stay there too long before we had the owner come and pick us up, but on a previous trip there we really enjoyed ourselves. If you are having any reservations about taking this scooter trip, wash them away and take it- IT WAS AWESOME!
