  • Amazing scenery, good restaurant, hotels and parks. I really had a nice time there. Nice trails for hike. Make sure yo visit the observatory at the top of Mt. Washington  more »
  • Worth the visit to see the changing leaves and scenery. It was overcast the day we visited so could not get clear view of Mount Washington.  more »
  • Super crowded trails on weekends. But iff you're lucky enough to go hiking during the week in the off season there are some nice trails to enjoy. I grew up here and I've seen a huge increase in hikers...  more »

  • The key to fun in the White Mountains is to be adequately prepared and to set reasonable expectations. Today's hike in the Sandwich Range had fresh snow that required snowshoeing and breaking trail. But we were the only ones out in the area and the solitude and quiet were amazing. We turned around in time to meet other commitments but we met our objectives - be safe, enjoy the experience and your companions and don't say goodbye without scheduling the next hike.
  • White Mountain National Forest is one of the most beautiful places in New England. Plenty of hiking trails, waterfalls and scenic views. Lots of places to go shopping in the surrounding towns. Great area to even just go for a drive. The only down side is that in the last 5 years or so it has become a very busy area during the warmer seasons as people are starting to get away from their electronics and move to the outdoors again. So if you are looking for a quiet place to get away from everyone, this won’t be it.
  • White Mountain National Forest is a great place for outdoor recreation. Extensive hiking is most enjoyable. There are campgrounds available within the forest, and also numerous ones outside of the forest. There are lots of waterfalls here some very popular and most with no names at all, you'll have fun hiking and discovering these Treasures. In the warm weather there are some natural swimming holes in the streams to enjoy. When the Fall colors are at their best White Mountain National Forest can get very crowded, the colors attract people from all over. I consider it one of those places that is a must-see.
  • Wow what a spectacular setting here at the White Mountain National Forest. And that makes this location ideal for an equally majestic magical illusion. We've all heard of 'Sawing the Lady in half', but Magician Jay Sankey has conveyed a cut of the deck's Maiden Queen Bullock which Eric measured as 248 miles! Yes Queen Anne now severed teaches us that her head and hair are a vowel, a state of Maine ~ 'main' vowel like an 'E'. And her bust is a consonant, now how cool is that two state 3-D linguistic render.
  • Truly the best stretch of mountain and woods in New England. I can't think of a better area to go hike and hang out at. It'll kick your butt going up and down the many mountains in the park but it's still worth it. There's plenty of parking at the many trail heads and there's always people around to make you feel safe. Definitely climb Washington while you're here. Then go down the Crawford path and see some more mountains. You'll get tons of good pictures and beat your body thin with the work out.
