  • I was here in September 2015 during my road trip and I loved it! White mountain forest offers so many great hiking trails including a must do - Mount Washington that has phenomenal views (above the clouds). We used their auto-road, but if I go there again, I'll just climb it up. I highly recommend!
  • Coming from California, this was one of my best experiences at a national park. If you are not from the area, be prepared for endless green trails, ponds, and gorgeous scenery. This is far less crowded than many of the other national parks I have been to out west. There are lots of wildlife, and for those of you that want to experience nature, but don't have the ability to hike, there is the Kancamangus Highway, which is about an hour long drive, with plenty of scenic stops along the way to experience the marvelous scenery. Make sure to pack plenty of fluids, and I'd recomend having some permethryn, and possibly deet or picaridin to protect you from the insects. Ticks are a major problem here, and lyme disease is not uncommon in these parts.
  • We drove the Kancamagus Highway at the peak of the fall colors. Sure it gets a little crowded but it really was not that bad. The scenery is spectacular and I would encourage you to stop by a visitor center to plan out your travel. We visited a popular waterfall that is accessible after only a short hike. While we really wanted to see a moose we had no luck. The famous Cog Rail Way to the top of Mt. Washington seemed very expensive as did the fee to drive to the top yourself. Aside from that a great trip and certainly worth it if your in the area!
  • We did the Franconia Ridge trail on a lovely clear day; it does take upwards of 7-8 hours so come prepared with water! We went from (Old Bridge) Lafayette to Haymill (down falling rivers) and luckily ran across the AMC hit and refilled water there. They also sell great snacks and drinks there! This route was tough not be a use of elevation but because the terrain is so rocky - make sure to have proper hiking shoes! Bring a rain jacket too because summit weather can be unpredictable!
  • The forest during summer is absolutely worth going. The view from summit is incredibly beautiful.
