  • Stumbled across this spot online by accident somehow and thought - wow why didn't we know about this spot on all of our trips to Freeport before? For the cost of the admission, it's better just to loo...  more »
  • I never knew! This is a neat place to go see just to say you have been to the desert in Maine. Still hard to believe.  more »

  • Very nice people and our woodsy tent site was so peaceful! We only stopped for the night on our way to somewhere else but there was enough there that we were tempted to stay and explore the area. The place feels nice and isolated but is very close to the highway and easy to find. Would stay again. =)
  • Maine cheese - cheesy cheese. This is a good example of poor land management/soil erosion ranging from previous centuries. The fact that this has been a tourist stop (trap) from the 1920s is curious. I liked the pole barn from the 1700s
  • This is for real. Way larger than I thought. Do the tour, it's cheap and interesting
  • Very unique! Tim was a great tour guide!
  • We really enjoyed our stay at this campground and loved the added history of the desert. Our tour guide around the desert was funny and knowledgeable. It's incredible to see how quick mother nature can make things happen if you let her.
