Where to stay in Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg is well known for its wide array of bed and breakfasts and inns. Those located in the city's historical neighborhoods--particularly those on or near Main Street--sit within walking distance of the city's most popular restaurants, cafes, and bars. If you prefer a more tranquil setting, consider staying on a converted ranch or renting a cabin in the surrounding hills. Fredericksburg also provides a number of hotels and motels, several of which offer swimming pools where you can cool off from the Texas heat.

  • Definitely a great place for a family camping trip, it is one of my family's favorite. It's a nice short drive from home, which makes it a great weekend getaway. The area for tent camping is nicely maintained and the bathroom/shower facilities are always clean. They have plenty of RV parking and is pet friendly. Adjacent to the camping area is a day park that offers fishing, basketball courts, baseball fields, a playground by the river covered by trees, a city pool (admission is 2.00) , and you can also rent canoes, kayaks, and paddle boats.
  • It is a beautiful park but I feel they need to be more up front with people regarding cable. You either have it or you don't. We are at the park right now and have been for three days and one more to go. We have had two channels the last two days. Come to find out the cable hasn't worked for six months. It would have been nice to know before we made reservations. There are other nice parks around town.
  • This is a city park near the small destination city of Fredericksburg, TX. I have stayed here three times, always at the end of April. Overall it's a nice park, relaxing and peaceful, with occupants who are friendly and respectful neighbors. Since it lies within a city park, it has lots of amenities: swimming pool (generally open only during summer school vacation), tennis, golf course, beautiful small pollinator garden, and it is well maintained. It offers full hookups, along with free cable and WiFi – though some reviews say the WiFi is weak. Spaces are adequate to generous, and restrooms and showers are clean. Oddly, for a park with so many amenities, there are no grills or fire rings. There are lots of trees but the canopy is sparse, so many sites are exposed to the Texas sun. The park is adjacent to the small city airport so there is some plane noise, though none - in my experience - after dark. I recommend this park for a sojourn in the Hill Country of Texas. Cost is $40 per night.
  • Good car camping. Showers. swimming pool. Tennis. Fishing for kids. Golf course ajoining. Nice playgrounds. There is a hidden playground by the river tucked under the trees.
  • Nice picnic area with play ground. Nice hiking trails.
