#1 of 9 in Parks in Fort Worth
Fort Worth Zoo was founded in 1909 with just a handful of animals, making it the oldest zoo in Texas. Today the zoo has been ranked as the fifth best in the country by USA Travel Guide and is home to almost 7,000 animals. You can discover an array of exotic creatures, such as penguins, Asian elephants, chimpanzees, poison dart frogs, and parrots, as well as see an extensive collection of native Texan species. To view aquatic animals, visit the Great Barrier Reef exhibit. The zoo features a number of rides and activities, including a carousel, rock-climbing tower, and hurricane and tornado simulators. • This was an out of the blue trip, but we ended up enjoying it a lot! We got the chance to walk a lot and, though some areas were being remodeled and some of the animals were missing, it was a fun adve...  more »
  • This is a very unique zoo. Has anywhere from 5,000 to 7,000 animals vs 2,000 at Dallas Zoo. Has an outdoor water park in season! Very walkable, many restaurants with reasonable prices ( for a zoo). Th...  more »

  • I love the zoo. It is as if it is my second home. I used to come here almost every day with my dad when I was young. We used to have season passes because we would go so often, unfortunately I don't know if they still offer this. Ultimately, this is by far my favorite thing to do in Forth Worth. So many animals, and the staff is so wonderful. They are always willing to teach you more about the animals. Thank you Fort Worth Zoo, for making so many memories that I can cherish forever.
  • We had so much fun. There were lots of areas where they would spray cool mist. Helped us cool of a bit. My daughter was so excited to see all the animals. What I loved about this zoo is that you get to see the animals up a bit closer than the one in Dallas. We also loved the aquarium.
  • One of the top zoos in the country, the Fort Worth zoo has a great collection of animals and exhibits. My family enjoys the creatures, the ambiance, and the fun extras the zoo has to offer. We like the play barn and splash pad to cool off in. My biggest and only complaint is the layout. It is sometimes hard to maneuver to favorite animals with the elongated walking path, a circular path or spoke wheel design is a little easier. But they worked with what they have, and it's lots of fun!
  • Love this zoo! Animals seem well taken care of. Their living quarters are clean and kept well. Staff throughout the zoo are friendly and polite. Prices are fair on food and rides. There is always plenty to do and see for my 3 year old. The yearly pass is money well spent. It pays for itself in 2 visits, and offers discounts throughout the zoo all year long!
  • This has to be the cutest zoo I've ever gone to. It's not overly large, as far as zoo's go, but it's got charm. And it's Texas Town section is so adorable I could have spent a good hour there without any animals at all. Definitely worth a visit.
