Fort Worth Zoo, Fort Worth
(4.5/5 based on 1,500+ reviews on the web)
Fort Worth Zoo was founded in 1909 with just a handful of animals, making it the oldest zoo in Texas. Today the zoo has been ranked as the fifth best in the country by USA Travel Guide and is home to almost 7,000 animals. You can discover an array of exotic creatures, such as penguins, Asian elephants, chimpanzees, poison dart frogs, and parrots, as well as see an extensive collection of native Texan species. To view aquatic animals, visit the Great Barrier Reef exhibit. The zoo features a number of rides and activities, including a carousel, rock-climbing tower, and hurricane and tornado simulators. • Seeing the animals was always until 8. The meerkats are especially fun. Lots of different kinds of displays, with a good selection of animals.
  • The Fort Worth Zoo is so beautiful. The admission is very affordable and on Wednesdays its half-price day. The zoo gets a lot of children on field trips during the morning time but isn't so busy in th...  more »

  • I was surprised at how big this zoo was. You will need the entire day from opening until close to see the whole place. Animal areas were clean, and the grounds were well kept. I also felt pretty safe having my toddler there, and didn't see any glaring safety concerns. There is a train at the entrance that will take you directly to the dining, shopping, and theater area of the park (there are other animal exhibits here as well). This park has strollers to rent if you didn't bring yours. There are ice cream and drink stations throughout, as well as clean bathrooms!
  • I love this zoo! I go here several times a year and I have a good time every time. The animals are clearly cared for and the staff if friendly and seems to really care about animals. Everyone should go here at least once in their life. Also, to the bad reviews I have read, I believe the cat traps are for strays that get in, that way they don't accidentally end up in an exhibit with a dangerous animal. The animals here are very well taken care of. The bees have been around since I was a toddler I think it's just one of those things that happens when sweets are thrown into a trash can. This zoo is the best! πŸ’πŸ–πŸŠπŸΏπŸ
  • This is a really great zoo. Lots of fun little areas and neat trails. We really enjoyed our time here. Go on a Wednesday and it's half price.
  • My son and I love this Zoo! Well worth the price of admission. Get there early and you will have a fantastic time.
  • Went with my dad and step mom, my husband, and our three young kids (6, 4, and 18 mos). Had a blast! We were there for five hours! The first sections are less shaded than the rest of the zoo, but it was kind of hot, but there were misters and frozen treats available all throughout. Amazingly fun
