Fort Worth Zoo was founded in 1909 with just a handful of animals, making it the oldest zoo in Texas. Today the zoo has been ranked as the fifth best in the country by USA Travel Guide and is home to almost 7,000 animals. You can discover an array of exotic creatures, such as penguins, Asian elephants, chimpanzees, poison dart frogs, and parrots, as well as see an extensive collection of native Texan species. To view aquatic animals, visit the Great Barrier Reef exhibit. The zoo features a number of rides and activities, including a carousel, rock-climbing tower, and hurricane and tornado simulators. • I love this zoo! I go here several times a year and I have a good time every time. The animals are clearly cared for and the staff if friendly and seems to really care about animals. Everyone should go here at least once in their life. Also, to the bad reviews I have read, I believe the cat traps are for strays that get in, that way they don't accidentally end up in an exhibit with a dangerous animal. The animals here are very well taken care of. The bees have been around since I was a toddler I think it's just one of those things that happens when sweets are thrown into a trash can. This zoo is the best! πŸ’πŸ–πŸŠπŸΏπŸ
  • We love the Fort Worth Zoo! Extremely well kept and they are always improving something. It's an outstanding zoo with generous enclosures for such a wide variety of animals. My wife and I love this place as much as our kids do!
  • Went with my dad and step mom, my husband, and our three young kids (6, 4, and 18 mos). Had a blast! We were there for five hours! The first sections are less shaded than the rest of the zoo, but it was kind of hot, but there were misters and frozen treats available all throughout. Amazingly fun
  • Lots of fun for the family. The have great animals that never disappoint. We always see them doing something interesting rather than just sitting there. The grounds where the visitors walk could use a bit of work. There's usually popcorn everywhere and benches are sticky. But the employees are very nice. I would recommend this zoo.
  • We really love the Fort Worth Zoo. It is great pass to buy annual pass and to take your kids. It is about $54 for an adult annual pass. It is nice and shaded and has lots o fun animals to see. We love to caught some of their live animals shows/viewings. We have got to touch some neat animals and snakes this way. It also brings you up close and personal with the animals. It can get really busy during holidays and weekends so we prefer to go on weekdays. Also, in the summer it is way too hot to go to the zoo ha. I would recommend going in spring or fall. The animals don't like the heat and go into shade, making them difficult to see. Cloudy, cool days are definitely the best days to go.
