Okaloosa Island Pier, Fort Walton Beach
(3.8/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Famous for big fish, Okaloosa Island Pier draws fisherman and spectators alike to marvel at the fish that the Gulf of Mexico produces in this region. Large tuna, king mackerel, and cobia have been reeled in here. The pier extends more than 384 m (1,262 ft) into the ocean and serves as a great place to watch the sunset, observe those fishing, or catch glimpses of dolphins, stingrays, and sea turtles. You'll find a tackle shop on the pier, and if you forget your gear, you can rent equipment.  A beach grill is located at the end pier, and the Gulfarium next door hosts live marine mammal performances. There is a fee required to walk out onto the pier; it costs more if you would like to fish. • This particular pier I did not walk out on but enjoyed as a opportunity to photograph. They simply make great photos.
  • Not sure it was worth $2 to walk out and look at water. Great for fishing I guess. Good few of cranes.
  • Spent the afternoon, fishing pole in hand, people watching. A bargain for the fee paid. If not interested in fishing, just simply an afternoon of people watching is well worth the trip! Beautiful view...  more »
