Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier, Fort Walton Beach

(4/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Famous for big fish, Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier draws fisherman and spectators alike to marvel at the fish that the Gulf of Mexico produces in this region. Large tuna, king mackerel, and cobia have been reeled in here. The pier extends more than 384 m (1,262 ft) into the ocean and serves as a great place to watch the sunset, observe those fishing, or catch glimpses of dolphins, stingrays, and sea turtles. You'll find a tackle shop on the pier, and if you forget your gear, you can rent equipment.  A beach grill is located at the end pier, and the Gulfarium next door hosts live marine mammal performances. There is a fee required to walk out onto the pier; it costs more if you would like to fish. • Took a walk out here with my son and wife. $2 per person to walk it if I remember correctly. It was a nice view and neat to watch all the people fishing, unfortunately no one was bringing anything in ...  more »
  • This was ok. We were at the beach there, so figured we might as well pay the $2.00 per person and walk the pier. Nothing special on it, but you do get GREAT views of the pretty green water and we did ...  more »

  • We didn't fish but I seen lost of people getting bites... then rip the hook out. If you know how to set a hook I bet this would be a great place to fish. We seen a dolphin in the wild swim under the pier the first day we were there. For $21 plus bait you can fish from the pier from 5 am to 5am. The beach in October is awesome, not crowded and the life guards are friendly.
  • I didn't go to fish, just went out with my wife to enjoy each other and it was worth it. Got to take this cool picture of this crane
  • Great place to fish. All the locals were extremely friendly and helpful.
  • Beautiful views and love to watch people fishing. Great experience.
  • For a couple of bucks, definitely worth it for a stroll down the pier. We always see dolphins, fish, the occasional sea turtle and other marine life from the pier. Last trip the water was not very clear due to the storms earlier in the week, but we were able to see a spotted ray, and even a small bull shark some one caught. At night the lights under the pier illuminate the water and its really neat to see the dolphins zip back and forth underneath chasing fish.
