Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier, Fort Walton Beach

4.1
#4 of 28 in Things to do in Fort Walton Beach
Pier / Boardwalk Tourist Spot
Famous for big fish, Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier draws fisherman and spectators alike to marvel at the fish that the Gulf of Mexico produces in this region. Large tuna, king mackerel, and cobia have been reeled in here. The pier extends more than 384 m (1,262 ft) into the ocean and serves as a great place to watch the sunset, observe those fishing, or catch glimpses of dolphins, stingrays, and sea turtles. You'll find a tackle shop on the pier, and if you forget your gear, you can rent equipment.  A beach grill is located at the end pier, and the Gulfarium next door hosts live marine mammal performances. There is a fee required to walk out onto the pier; it costs more if you would like to fish. • Love going there, just watch for hooks on the ground..especially if you are wearing flip flops. Good days you see the dolphins n other sea life...All I ask is PLEASE clean up behind yourself, don't be the one that makes the water polluted ...WATER IS LIFE....REMEBER THAT.
  • Took a walk out here with my son and wife. $2 per person to walk it if I remember correctly. It was a nice view and neat to watch all the people fishing, unfortunately no one was bringing anything in when we were there. The large bird just walking the pier waiting for food was interesting, he didn't fear anyone really.
  • Nice place to catch fish for anyone. The people were great! I will come back next summer!
  • ONE of the better pier out there, bathroom at the end of pier, open 24hrs, great view to see shark, stingray, dolphin. $8 to fish $2 to walk. Summer of 2017
