The mission of the Fort Smith Museum of History is to collect, preserve, exhibit and interpret objects of historical significance relevant to the founding and growth of Fort Smith and the region.

Visitors may view a time line of Fort Smith history including artifacts belonging to John Rogers, Benjamin Bonneville, Judge Isaac C Parker and William O. darby, founder of the Darby's Rangers in World War II. A 1920's soda fountain offers old fashioned ice cream sodas, floats and sundaes. Learn about U. S. Marshal Bass Reeves and African American history in Fort Smith. View a saddle that belonged to outlaw Belle Starr

  • Its like going back in time to the True Grit days. You expect to see John Wayne. Very interesting with lots of artifacts and memories of the old times in Ft. Smith and surrounding area.  more »

  • Great place to learn more about Ft. Smith and the best place to see an old soda fountain and get a great Root beer float and ice cream.
  • Nice, clean museum full of local history.
  • An incredible step back in time. This museum is very well put together. Worth a visit!

  • They have a good amount of exhibits and voice guided tour. I wish they had actual guides.
