The Railroad Museum of South Florida, Inc a Florida Not for Profit Corp operates a Interpertive Center housed in a Railroad Depot in Lakes Regional Park. It's Outdoor exhibits include a cosmetically restored 1905 Atlantic Coastline Railroad 0-6-0 Baldwin Locomotive and Tender and a cosmetically restored 1953 Seaboard Airline Railroad Caboose. In addition to the Interperative Center it operates a 1 1/2 mile minature train ride which takes riders on a 15 minute scenic ride which winds through villages and a 100 ft tunnel and over trestle bridges on its journey between lakes and past water features with views of exotic birds and wildlife. A great destination for a family outing.

  • Free admission with purchase of a train ticket. See my review of Lakes Park for more about the train ride.
  • Here, one quickly notices that the Railroad Museum is run by authentic railway fans. The railway was built with great attention to detail. The driver was super friendly and has told us with much enthusiasm from the project. Left and right of the track there is a miniature landscape with many buildings, vehicles, etc. Tip: To Halloween and Christmas we the railway apparently extra decorated and is one of the most popular attractions for locals.

  • I like to exercise by walking within the park's trails. The gardens are also fun to visit. There were many activities/playgrounds for children and other activities like boats and bikes. The train muse...  read more »
  • Regarding ride on train: I may change my rating later, but I think it's ridiculous that a place can't keep accurate hours on their website. Call ahead of time and don't trust the website, or you may have a disappointed child like us. The park is nice, but not worth the 1 hour drive for us.
  • If you are interested in learning about history and rail roads this is the place to be. There is also a train set there that you can ride through a section of the park. A lot of interesting items on show here. The museum is inside lakes park, so it is a stop in an all-day visit to the park.
  • Interesting place not bad
  • I know this place like the back of my hand
  • Nice small museum. As far as exposition it's quite dire, but since the places is at reconstruction and attendance is free you wouldn't loose too much. But if you want something more interesting Lionel museum in more interesting. But the jewel of this place is train ride - its fun for the whole family. So if you're near by it definitely worth visiting. But not as specific destination. Except if you plan to use the park grounds as well.
