  • This beautiful park provides access to the point of the island with the unique white sands and views and Sanibel Island. We followed a dolphin down the shoreline as we walked. Very enjoyable.  more »
  • Bowditch is the start of Fort Myers beach. It's always less crowded. Great for sunset viewing and just to find a quieter place. Plenty of grills and picnic tables. During peak hours parking is tight.....  more »
  • Go right after the causeway and go to the end of the island. Nice nice park, changing rooms, bathrooms and the Ft. Myers Beach. What's not to love. Close to the ship (smaller boats) channel and you ca...  more »

  • This park is a hidden gem. People do not seem to go to the north end of Estero Island and don't realize it is a county park with beaches, picnic areas and natural areas. Yes, many do know it is here, but we had no trouble getting a parking place. You do pay by the hour or use a Lee County Parks annual parking pass. The bus also stops here.
  • This is not the best beach for water quality, hence the 4 stars. The water from Lake O drains here and just ruins our water. It is not clear or nice appearing but we still swim here from time to time. What I love about this beach is that my parking pass covers free parking and that it is not "too far" of a walk like some. There are showers, drinking fountains & bathrooms. There are picnic tables and you can grill. There is a boardwalk to the beach and plenty of beach space. The sand here is amazing for my kids to play. You can find some nice shells, but this is not an ideal shelling beach. The sand is good for playing, super soft. There are extremely short nature trails through trees that my son likes to walk through & explore. We also like to walk from the trees along the water & to the beach. It is our beach of choice because we are 15 min away with young kids and here to enjoy the view and play in sand. Not to swim. Not our swim beach nor our shell finding beach. Wildlife is hit or miss for us. We have seen a GIANT pod of dolphins around sun set playing where the boats take off & having fun. The largest ever. Sunsets are amazing here also. The water could be much nicer, but we love the beach. The drive over the bridge is breath taking and just walking the beach is hugely stress relieving. A favorite. Wear repellent if planning to hang in woods longer term.
  • Before the season really gets kicked off this is a wonderful place to hang out. Unfortunately there's a very small parking lot but there is trolley service from Fort Myers Beach. It's amazing how wide and flat the beach is considering all the storms that have gone by. The fun part is being able to sit there for sunsets and watch the boats going in and out of Fort Myers and you can also see the Sanibel Bridge from the beach. There's a lot of bird watching over on the river side and gopher turtles in the protected areas.
  • Bowditch point is one of my favorite places on Estero Island. It's usually pretty quiet and is one of the best places to look for crabs or shells or watch the boats go in and out of the inland waterways. We make an annual trip to Ft. Myers and always make our way down here. It's also a great place to fly a kite which our kids enjoy!
  • Very nice beach. Restrooms separate changing rooms picnic tables and grills. Everything you need for a great day at the beach.
