  • Was met by very nice admissions lady to start with. It was a great self driven tour. The little kids were entertained and the adults learned some history. We did get “lost” but escaped through a...  more »
  • We thoroughly enjoyed walking around Fort Morgan. We saw a live crab (first one I’ve ever seen) so that was fun too. I would recommend going! There was NO soap in the bathroom though. During a...  more »
  • We decided to go to this fort instead of the one on dauphin Island because it was cheaper for the family to get in. Both forts are similar so I didn't think we would miss anything by going to this...  more »

  • This place was pretty cool! Definitely plenty to see and surprisingly dog friendly!! The staff I encountered were all super welcoming, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I spent almost a full day here and I covered just about everything Fort wise. There was also a little beach that was dog friendly if you go right at the entrance. The beach was completely empty and incredibly peaceful. There’s also a little hose just outside of the beach entrance to wash all the sand off.
  • Last time we went to Dauphin Island we went to Fort Gaines. This time Fort Morgan. It is a great place to go if you like history. Very neat seeing everything up close and personal. It is a lot of walking with some climbing so wear comfy shoes. Take something to drink. It is very hot and all their machines were empty and I got sick later with heat exhaustion. They have a nice indoor museum and gift shop, but to be honest, if I had the choice between the two forts, I'd choose Fort Gaines. Fort Morgan seemed to be a lot of the same things over and over. Veterans and active duty get in free.
  • Come in the AM during the hottest months. Very little shade, very hot in the afternoon. Good museum and classic "star" fort design. Known as a location for migratory birds and butterflies. We saw a male/female pair that had not been seen in the area for at least 8 years! Other birders were there with binocs and spotting scopes. Got some good pics. $8 adult admission to a privately funded historic location.
  • Awesome place! Worth the time to check out this neat historical site. It is well worth the $20 we spent to get in. Touring the grounds took us around 2 hours...that was a fast pace being there were two families with kiddos. If you get a chance visit this place.
  • I'm a history nerd, and this place certainly full of history. I really enjoyed taking in the sights of the old fort and was truly impressed by the scale of it all. It would have been nice to have had a guided tour to reveal more of the old history.
