Gardens on Spring Creek, Fort Collins

(4.5/5 based on 65+ reviews on the web)
In 1995, a non-profit group successfully convinced the Fort Collins city council to initiate a city-funded community horticulture program. The positive results of that program’s many dozens of gardens and gardening projects were then used as a springboard to secure the endorsement of voters in a 1997 municipal election, resulting in $3,000,000 in city funding for The Gardens on Spring Creek.

In the spring of 2001, The Friends organization was established for the purpose of providing support for The Gardens on Spring Creek and to aid the implementation of its mission and programming. After much hard work, including many thousands of volunteer hours, The Gardens opened to the community in January 2004.

Major accomplishments of the Friends of The Gardens on Spring Creek to date include:

-Securing funding towards the construction of the Evelyn Clark Classroom facility, the Children’s Garden, the Entry Garden, and the Garden of Eatin' (which provides fresh, healthy produce for distribution through the Food Bank of Larimer County)

-Establishing a membership of over 200 local citizens that provide financial support to The Gardens on Spring Creek through annual dues, donations, and participation in special events

-Organizing and conducting special events each year to promote awareness of The Gardens on Spring Creek

Producing a semi-annual newsletter highlighting educational and community events held at The Gardens on Spring Creek

  • Always a fun holiday tradition to go see the holiday lights at the Spring Creek Garden. Creative displays and even better in the snow.
  • Christmas light show with multi colored lights in the form of flowers, garden plants and tools. Family friendly. Trails paved and clear of snow.
  • The holiday light display is a must see for anyone with kids! The detail and creativity is breathtaking. Having a hot cider station set up along the way was a nice touch.

  • The Gardens on Spring Creek is open on Sundays from May 1 to September 30. I know because I work here on Sundays. This is an awesome place to spend time enjoying beautiful gardens in an urban hideaway. Enjoy both flower and vegetable gardens and one of the finest rock gardens in Colorado. My grandchildren love the Children's Garden and there is shade to sit in while they play. Check out the website for more details.
  • For a young garden it has some great gardens already established. The children's garden had many interactive elements and it looked like kids really enjoyed their time playing and exploring.
  • Amazing place to visit. Great for kids as.well.
  • Amazing place to visit. They are the biggest botanical garden we've been to. Lots to look at, very interactive. Love the art and sculptures that accompany this experience. Kid and adult friendly.
  • It's donation run, so you pay what you can. They have an adorable kids area with water features and gardens where they can dig and water the plants, etc. We love to come here to walk, play, look at the plants, and enjoy being outside! During the winter they also have lights strung up all over and it's gorgeous!
