Garden Nature / Park
In 1995, a non-profit group successfully convinced the Fort Collins city council to initiate a city-funded community horticulture program. The positive results of that program’s many dozens of gardens and gardening projects were then used as a springboard to secure the endorsement of voters in a 1997 municipal election, resulting in $3,000,000 in city funding for The Gardens on Spring Creek.

In the spring of 2001, The Friends organization was established for the purpose of providing support for The Gardens on Spring Creek and to aid the implementation of its mission and programming. After much hard work, including many thousands of volunteer hours, The Gardens opened to the community in January 2004.

Major accomplishments of the Friends of The Gardens on Spring Creek to date include:

-Securing funding towards the construction of the Evelyn Clark Classroom facility, the Children’s Garden, the Entry Garden, and the Garden of Eatin' (which provides fresh, healthy produce for distribution through the Food Bank of Larimer County)

-Establishing a membership of over 200 local citizens that provide financial support to The Gardens on Spring Creek through annual dues, donations, and participation in special events

-Organizing and conducting special events each year to promote awareness of The Gardens on Spring Creek

Producing a semi-annual newsletter highlighting educational and community events held at The Gardens on Spring Creek

  • This is such a lovely spot in Fort Collins. They have a fun interactive garden for kids, a lovely rock garden and some lovely fruit trees. Their gift shop is also charming!  more »
  • We live close to the Gardens on Spring Creek and had never looked at the lights close up. A cold December night we found ourselves walking towards the lights and found the garden full of other couples...  more »
  • I love going here to visit during different times of year. I can get good ideas about plants that will grow well in my yard. Plus there are very knowledgeable people to answer questions.  more »

  • We went here on a field trip with my son's preschool class and it was so much fun. The gardens are beautiful and the staff was very kind and knowledgeable. They had a good variety of gardens here which made for lots of learning opportunities. And we even got to plant a seed to take home. I can't wait to go again in the summer when even more of the flowers are blooming.
  • Beautiful park with a small community garden. The restrooms on site are clean and kept warm in winter. If you do use the restrooms on site please be aware it is a PUBLIC restroom and the doors should NEVER be locked. There is enough room for 2 people inside and if you lock the door with only you inside the lady with the kids overfilled with juice doing a dance in front of the bathrooms is going to have to clean up a lot more then expected. So please, leave the doors unlocked. You know who you are -_-.
  • The Garden of Lights at Xmas is always worth the trip. Other times of year its also great for their various gardening displays.
  • Nice gardens at the base of the flat irons. Nice variety of native and Colorado hardy plants.
  • Great run! Gorgeous open Fields and a well maintained bike trail.
