  • I'm sorry to have to write this, but I feel it's appropriate. We bought two $20 tickets for the last Candlelight Tour of the 2017 season (12/16, 6:30PM). The staff was very good, quite knowledgeable a...  more »
  • Thomas Jefferson's Summer home... to get away from the heat of Monticello in the Summer and also to get away from the innumerable houseguest --that wanted to drop in on the Jeffersons uninvited! Popla...  more »
  • You definitely have to know where you are going since it is located down a long gravel drive. It's not the showcase Monticello is, but if you like history and presidents, then it is worth a look. I enjoyed the trip back in time to see Jefferson's retirement home and to see his ideas on architecture manifested. It is important to note that the main house is still being restored to its original glory and that there is little furniture in the rooms. But the grounds are not too large and the surrounding historical buildings are easily accessible by foot. All in all, a pleasant afternoon.
  • What an Incredible an intricate detailed house Thomas Jefferson designed. The tour guides are great, friendly and give you an in depth tour of the house. Make sure you spend sometime in the bottom portion of the house. If you love history this is a must stop.
  • Beautifully restored historic place! They have a lot more to do but they are doing it correctly! The tour guide that we had was very knowledgeable about Thomas Jefferson and his history.
  • Great historic location. They work hard to bring relevant events and activities. It is worth a trip.
  • One of our favorite places to visit. Rich in history as well as peaceful and beautiful.
