  • The drive to Poplar Forest was nice. The grounds and surrounding property was managed quite nicely. We went to visitors center and purchased a number of items to remember this trip.  more »
  • Poplar Forest is an example of Mr. Jefferson's genius. The historic home is currently being restored, however this gives you an opportunity to view the amazing detail. The expected completion date is ...  more »
  • Very interesting architectural style on house. Nearly a mini-Monticello. Archeologists working on site. Well maintained buildings and grounds. Terrific tour of house.  more »

  • My son's 3rd grade class went here on a field trip last week and it was a lot of fun. Very interactive and hands on for the kids. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The gift shop was inexpensive which usually isn't the case for places like this. We'll definitely go back!
  • Lovely experience. Take the tour to see the inside of the house. The staff preserving Jefferson's home are very careful about linking the history of the place to Jefferson and preserving his legacy at Poplar Forest.
  • An afterthought for many interested in Jefferson. Essential visit for architecture, landscape design, and to further understand Jefferson as a person rather than public figure. An evolving restoration project worth supporting.
  • Beautiful property. Helpful staff. Lots of great history to explore. Many events.
  • While not as popular or grand as Monticello, this place has a lot to offer for history buffs, including the fact that TJ had a weird thing for octagons. It's possible to do Poplar Forest and Monticello in one day--it'll be sure to impress the tour guides!
