  • The staff running the museum are full of interesting facts about the history of the prison and a glimpse of life inside the prison. Johnny Cash really did make an appearance. There are a sample of art...  read more »
  • What an amazing compound and history. The museum house is small, with a helpful film and very well informed host in the gift shop. We had no idea what it was like, and the stories of the original secl...  read more »
  • Good staff.Although the museum is small there are a lot of exhibits and info and the Johnny Cash connection make it even more interesting to my age group.
  • I thought the place would be a lot harsher, but turns out most of the residents are pretty friendly once you get to know them and they all have good stories to tell. I remember my 3rd night I met a man named Bob who was staying there because of some pretty hefty manslaughter/murder/grand theft auto charges. Apparently he claimed to be a "Syber Netic" organism, sent from the future to protect some kid named James Conor or something. Anyways, he failed his mission and apparently this indicated the end of the world at the hands of robots. I was pretty tired, and his story was pretty boring so I didn't really listen, he was probably pretty insane, had this THICK accent, but I couldn't place where it was from even though I feel like I've heard it before. All in all a good trip, would recommend to a friend.
  • "I hear the train a comin' It's rolling round the bend And I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when, I'm stuck in Folsom prison, and time keeps draggin' on But that train keeps a rollin' on down to San Antone.. When I was just a baby my mama told me. Son, Always be a good boy, don't ever play with guns. But I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die When I hear that whistle blowing, I hang my head and cry.. I bet there's rich folks eating in a fancy dining car They're probably drinkin' coffee and smoking big cigars. Well I know I had it coming, I know I can't be free But those people keep a movin' And that's what tortures me... Well if they freed me from this prison, If that railroad train was mine I bet I'd move it on a little farther down the line Far from Folsom prison, that's where I want to stay And I'd let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away....."

  • Good place to stay for a few years and make some new pals. Made an excellent mate called skinner, shoutout to me main man. Officer philip looked after me so lookout for wor philip. Food was quite good but on the odd occasion I would find weave hair in my soup. Cells were quite small and toilets stunk. Overall wicked place to stay and I will defintely be back.
