Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Area, Florence
Categories: Lighthouses, Tourist Spots
Projecting the strongest light on the Oregon coast, Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Area is part of a state park. Perched on a small peninsula with boulders that act as natural wave breakers, the lighthouse is a beacon for many seafarers. From the building's deck, you can see land that is thick with fir trees, making a striking contrast with the deep blue water. Tours begin on the first floor of the keeper's quarters and end on the deck of the lighthouse. Tours are free, donations are welcome, and parking requires a per-vehicle fee. Consider taking an extra day to tour the area so you can stay a night at the inn inside the keeper's quarters. Right off of Highway 101, easy to get to. The lighthouse is great as well as the beach and surroundings. 1/2 mile hike from parking lot and probably shorter from the road. Parking looked like it could... read more »

Beautiful lighthouse atop a hill just off of 101. Its a little bit of a hike uphill to get to the lighthouse from the parking lot but it's well worth it. The forest surrounding the lighthouse is a treat to look at. It you head up above the lighthouse a bit you can watch the light hitting the trees as it moves around.
It was a beautiful view, but the lighthouse itself was inaccessible when we were there. With the lighthouse closed, there's not much to do except look at the lighthouse and the parking lot. But it is a good view.
Great little hike, beautiful scenery. Not busy.
The light house is fun to observe but the beach is so filled with rocks that digging or playing is out of the picture. Very windy as well
We love going for walks here . Such a nice beach and beautiful views from the light house .
