Heceta Head Lighthouse, Florence

4.6
#1 of 14 in Historic Sites in Oregon Coast
Projecting the strongest light on the Oregon coast, Heceta Head Lighthouse is part of a state park. Perched on a small peninsula with boulders that act as natural wave breakers, the lighthouse is a beacon for many seafarers. From the building's deck, you can see land that is thick with fir trees, making a striking contrast with the deep blue water. Tours begin on the first floor of the keeper's quarters and end on the deck of the lighthouse. Tours are free, donations are welcome, and parking requires a per-vehicle fee. Consider taking an extra day to tour the area so you can stay a night at the inn inside the keeper's quarters. • A great lighthouse with an interesting back story. The uphill walk would make wheelchair access difficult but the views make it worthwhile.  more »

  • This review is part of a series of reviews I am doing regarding my weeklong vacation spent in Florence, Oregon. We visited this lighthouse on 7-1-17. This place is great! For only $5 in parking, you get an easy .5 mile hike to the lighthouse and a spectacular view. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even took our family picture for us. The gift shop had some nice items. After the lighthouse, we took the tougher Haceta Head hiking trail to Hobbit Beach. I was a wonderful, memorable experience. I highly recommend visiting this place if in the area.
  • A beautiful must-see on the Oregon Coast! The view from the lighthouse and charming lighthouse keepers home is second to none.
  • Very pretty and easy to get do. Great for sunsets.
  • The most photographed lighthouse in Oregon. For a special treat hike up to it at night.
  • Cool lighthouse with a decent hike to the base. Great views from around the base.
