  • Amazing to see this wall built completely by hand. Tom carried in tons of rocks and his son is still there to continue the tradition of telling his stories. We love to visit when we are in the area. B...  more »

  • Tom a blessing to the community. A mentor and teacher since 2008. I was blessed to bring stones from all over the world and my travels back to the wall. He made it a safe place to share my prayers and leave sacred objects for safe keeping. I was fortunate enough to hear the story of how he and his wife met this past year. It touched me so. I will miss his kindness and his face. I remember his words kept in my heart of all his stories.
  • I met Tom Hendrix when he interviewed artist to illustrate his book, "If The Legends Fade". I was honored to be chosen. My journey included early development of The Wall also shared visits with family and friends. Every trek brought new insight, peace and delightful stories. This is a well spent afternoon and I highly recommend the trip. We share the loss of Tom Hendrix who passed away 2/25/2017 and our support is extended to his wife.
  • It's amazing to see and hear the story of why and how thr the wall was built! And very beautiful and peaceful.
  • To the family: I can never put into words how sorry I am for your loss of this awsome man and many many thanks to you for sharing him My heart is breaking. I have known grandfather Tom for many years. I've been visiting the wall years before it was finished. Now it will never be the same. The world has lost an amazing teacher and story teller. I have lost a very dear friend. My favorite time visiting was an afternoon in late summer my friend Wanda Dove Tice and I had Grandfather Tom all to ourselves we sit under the trees for hours and he told us the sweetest native American childrens stories. Why turtle smiles is my favorite. I never grew tired listing to the many stories he knew. I will greatly miss you. Kasi Mekeoo my friend
  • This amazing place was built entirely by Tom Hendrix in honor of his Native American grandmother who was forced to Oklahoma by the US government in the 1830's. She then walked back to Alabama and lived in the area until she died as an old woman. Each stone upon stone commemorates her journey, and the journeys of other Native Americans displaced by the US Government. It is definitely worth a visit, and we got to hear the story from Mr Hendrix himself. What a pleasure!
