Winterplace Ski Resort Reviews
Decent resort for a southern state where you're not likely to find resorts with more than 8-10 trails. This one actually has a small bowl and an easy-going 2 mile run. Prices are decent for what you g... more »
We are from Florida and this was our first trip to see snow . We went tubing and thought that was really fun. The skiing looked like it would have been fun too and we plan to try next time we visit. M... more »
We discovered Winter Place 3 years ago & have been going ever since. Wide variety of slopes that have allowed us to significantly improve our skills. We have taught 3 more people to ski there, too. Sl... more »
This is a great place for low country transplants who need a ski fix to go visit for a long weekend and bring/teach the kids at. Also great for Church group or Scout trips. A great staff and reasonably priced - late February is best time and deals.
What a great place to ski!! Highly recommend Ski Wee ski school if you have little ones. The instructors are amazing. My five year old daughter went from not being able to ski at all to being able to ski all the way down the mountain this season. One of the coolest things was when I happen to be on a lift to see her go down her first hill. She was super excited and it was awesome to see the instructors praise her and give her high fives. They genuinely seemed as excited as she was. She still has more to learn and will definitely be back to ski school next season.
This is a fine local ski resort, but not ideal for beginners in my opinion. I am an experience skiier, and I took my 5-year-old daughter there to learn. She had been skiing once before and loved it. But for an early "turner", the trails were way too narrow. The resort sorely lacks a wide gently sloped trail. They have gentle slopes with narrow trails, and wide steep ones, but nothing in the sweet spot. Also, we tried the "first timers" lesson, but the first thirty minutes was like doing the chicken dance with one ski on. My daughter was not impressed, and lost patience with it. Admittedly, she was already tired from skiing the first half of the day. We ended up skipping out of the second half of the lesson.
So glad we were finally able to make it out here this year. We have been waiting for cold weather and fresh snow and thankfully yesterday offered both. The staff is always very friendly, attentive, and helpful. Hopefully winter is a bit longer next year and we can come a few more times. See you in December!
Friendly staff, fun slopes, and they offer a discount with your student ID! If you're planning to visit for the day, an all day lift ticket isn't too expensive, especially if you get there early and stay until they close. The food is pricey in the cafeteria, but it is a resort so that feels expected. Ski and snowboarding lessons are offered to anyone that wants to pay, if not you can learn on your own on the many different slopes they have available. All around a very fun time if you enjoy snow sports.
