  • Have been attending the park for years. The pups love it. Seems the powers that be in the park and the shelter can't stop their infighting long enough to keep the park clean, neat, and welcoming. Reme...  more »
  • They have a terrific pool. Unfortunately, the small dog park is right next to the large dog park and the small dog people become irate when the dogs bark at each other through the fence. Thats what do...  more »
  • Amazing facility for dogs! They can run, jump, play and swim until they tire themselves out. It was a treat to just watch how they interacted with the each other. This facility was very well organized...  more »

  • I'm giving a 1 star because I can't give it a 0.... Honestly this place/people discriminate owners looking for pets. I understand you want to find the pet a great home and make sure it doesn't get abused. But discriminating someone based on their past animal history. Really? Like I have dogs they are all in good health. My small dog varies from day to day because she's getting old. We love and care for them. But after telling and being honest to one of the people about my past with a cat I had (I was unable to take care of it. In high school, no job; sister took it to a safe home so it can actually get cared for). But I loved my cat. So do to that fact, they won't let me adopt. I'm 20 now, with a job and means to take full care of an animal.... They see me as unfit. Then they go to "I'm sorry, so sorry", really that won't fix anything. This is why many animals NEVER get adopted. These people discriminate everyone that walks through that door!!!
  • Typical humane society thinks nobody is capable of owning a dog that isn't spayed or neutered and punishes pups by turning them away from the park. My girl isn't in heat, she's the same as every other dog, just still has some life in her. Not really a "dog park" as advertised.
  • NCHS has an incredibly dedicated group of staff/volunteers to ensure the animals in their care are given the best treatment possible. We stopped in (unannounced) and the facility was very well kept and organized. The staff took the time to discuss the dog we were interested in and reviewed our paperwork to ensure we were all preliminarily a good match. We did two overnights to ensure our current dog and Pockets would get along as well as we all expected they would. The front desk staff were very helpful in this process understanding the request for the additional night. As an adopter, there are many reasons animals end up in a shelter, including "returns." I appreciated the time and effort each staff member took to ensure we were truly fit for adopting. Many people decide to take on the responsibility of adoption without realizing the time, energy, dedication, and costs associated and inadvertently end up caring for the animal much worse than if the animal had remained at the shelter. While NCHS is in the business of finding homes for their charges, they ensure they are placed in the right homes to avoid these types of situations. We are happy Pockets has found his forever home and completed our family!
  • The park it's self looked beautiful but we didn't get to go in bc we were from out of town and didn't have our dogs records. He wears tags but they needed more details. Also kids under 12 had to sit on the porch
  • went there to adopt one of their older dogs and they wouldn't let us because 1 of our dogs was a little behind on his shots. Very sad. we wanted to give him a good home and now we have to wait for an appointment to get out other dog vaccinated. i hope the dog we want is still there when we get our other vaccinated. I was super upset the whole day.
