  • Bisti is definitely a place I would like to re-visit when it is dry. On our only day to visit we braved the slippery bumpy roads to try to hike this unusual landscape and hunt rocks (BLM restrictions ...  read more »
  • The foggy, wet weather made this wilderness visit a muddy challenge. No trails to follow and little information on where to head is available on site. Yet, this "badlands" area is worth a visit. No re...  read more »
  • We did not hike deep into the Bisti, as it was the afternoon hours and so very hot! No coverage. A ways off the main hwy. Worth the visit but go early AM and bring water.
  • This is a really cool place. The geology here is other-worldly. The best place to start a hike is to go to GPS coordinates 36.259098, -108.251868 which is a large dirt parking lot near Hwy 371. You head east following the dry creek bed. If you look at the photos on google maps you will see the spots of lots of interesting things. It is illegal to remove anything from this area and you can be fined and jailed, plus you will be cursed for the rest of your life! It is an amazing place. My favorite are the huge petrified trees. Go in the spring and fall as it gets incredibly hot in the summer. Winter might work also.
  • You can take a long hike to see all the sites our some areas you can drive right up to the rock formations. The kids loved it. They can climb and play all over the rocks. We visited in May. The weather was just perfect.
  • One of the most amazing places I have ever been. A magical place that transports one into another world. Remote beauty and solitude with something different wherever one turns.
  • I remember a French Spy trying to stab me here. Good thing I had my scattergun.
  • This is a special place and a truly terrific hike. Challenging but not unduly so. Hundreds of breathtaking visuals.
