  • We live close by so we make several trips out to the Bisti every year. I love the beautiful formations and different fossils you can find. Some of the formations look absolutely magical! Wear good hik...  more »
  • From the trailhead off we go armed with a GPS device, to explore the Hoodoos and fascinating landscape. Who do not want the most beautiful formations and escapes to the risk not finding them, can record the coordinates to the Internet or store and single-mindedly go hiking. You can easily spend a day in this Mondlamdschaft, should but be good to walk and bring enough water. There is no infrastructure or signposted or marked routes.

  • Another trip by Salmon Ruins director Larry Baker. This was very unique. A must have trip. It is about a 2 mile hike. If you go in hot weather you must have lots of sun screen, proper skin protection;...  more »

  • Amazing rock formations! So much to see and you won't be able to fit it all into one trip. Bring water and make sure you keep track of where you parked. Bring compass if you get lost easily (like me). You'll love it!
  • This is a really cool place. The geology here is other-worldly. The best place to start a hike is to go to GPS coordinates 36.259098, -108.251868 which is a large dirt parking lot near Hwy 371. You head east following the dry creek bed. If you look at the photos on google maps you will see the spots of lots of interesting things. It is illegal to remove anything from this area and you can be fined and jailed, plus you will be cursed for the rest of your life! It is an amazing place. My favorite are the huge petrified trees. Go in the spring and fall as it gets incredibly hot in the summer. Winter might work also.
  • You can take a long hike to see all the sites our some areas you can drive right up to the rock formations. The kids loved it. They can climb and play all over the rocks. We visited in May. The weather was just perfect.
  • This is a special place and a truly terrific hike. Challenging but not unduly so. Hundreds of breathtaking visuals.
  • One of the most amazing places I have ever been. A magical place that transports one into another world. Remote beauty and solitude with something different wherever one turns.
