Oak Grove Cemetery is a historic cemetery located at 765 Prospect Street in Fall River, Massachusetts. It was established in 1855 and greatly improved upon in the years that followed. It features Gothic Revival elements, including an elaborate entrance arch constructed of locally quarried Fall River granite. The cemetery originally contained 47 acres, but has since been expanded to over 120 acres. The cemetery is the city's most significant, built in the planned rural-garden style of Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It was designed and laid out by local architect Josiah Brown, who is also known for his designs of early mills including the Union, Border City, and others.Put Oak Grove Cemetery into our Fall River road trip planning website to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Fall River.
Oak Grove Cemetery is the final resting place of many of the city's elite, including prominent mill owners and merchants. It also contains the city's Civil War Monument, donated by Richard Borden.
The cemetery was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It is still owned and operated by the City of Fall River.

It’s a must see to conclude any visit to Fall River. The gravesite is well marked. Also take a drive past Maplecroft if you get the chance.

If you need to see where the Bordens are buried, this is the place. There are even footprints in the road that lead you to the markers.

We went to the cemetery to find the Borden family plot. Since we are from out of town, it was nice to see that they market the road leading up to the grave site which made it very easy to find the graves and not disturb others. We had a limited amount of time before we headed back to Providence, Rhode Island to catch our flight home and this was a quick and easy stop. We have a longer/full review on our blog site and YouTube channel.

My friend an I had a creepy experience: My friend and I had just come from the Lizzie Borden house to see the Borden family graves. At the Lizzie Borden house a black cat was sitting on the porch which was really weird. While my friend and I were at the grave we both heard slight singing at the same time, it was a soft tune that only lasted a few seconds. I looked at her and asked if she heard it to, she replied with “yea...the singing” Even creepier that we were also on the phone with someone while at the cemetery and the phone was very staticy and breaking up, and snapchat wasn’t working for both of us like they didn’t want their graves to be recorded. We know for sure the music wasn’t our phones and nobody else was around at the time. We ended up looking up Lizzie Borden songs and one of them were very similar to the tune we had heard at the graves. For the rest of the day everything was off and weird.

Beautiful Cemetery! Visited the graves of the Borden Family before staying at the AJ Borden Home.

This cemetery is beautiful and peaceful. I went and visited Lizzie Borden. I had a nice time. It was a nice experience on my New England tour.
-
Beautiful cemetery with lots of history. Only downside is the sheer size, it's not hard to get lost!
