  • Choose your site carefully your neighbors may be too close to you. Your picnic table maybe on the wrong side of your RV. This park seems to be very laxed on their rules. Many more than eight guests are allowed per site. Noise levels, PA systems seem to be okay here. We had to move once just to get the quiet seclusion we were looking for in a state park. On a positive note we did end up staying another day. Also note at this time only one camping area is open Cook's Ferry, the other two are under construction.
  • We go camping a couple times a year and visit new parks each time. This is our second time here and we have enjoyed both trips. It's a large lake with a decent trail. Camp sites are larger, although some are close together. That worked well for our group of 20 to be able to get together! If you are a single camp site group you can find places that are separated as well. The swimming area was very crowded with limited parking. That was about the only negative.
  • As for a camping and RV park it's a nice place to stay, you also get power and water. The bathrooms are something that needs improvements. Shower stalls need a cover to the bench so your items don't get wet, AC for the summer months because the bath area gets hot & high on the list is Wifi!!! The lake is nice and cozy and the kids play areas are adequate. I understand it's camping and roughing it, but it's the 21st century so a few upgrades would make this a much better place to stay.
  • Good old boy system. Locals get priority to all other guests. People walk through your site without asking. We had people from across walking to get to their boat they parked at our water site without ever asking. This seems to be a common occurrence that is widely accepted. If you value any sort of respect or privacy or don't want your animals to be antagonized by rude people don't go here. The park management doesn't seem to enforce the issue. As I said, it appears to happen so frequently and if you talk to any of the staff about it they make you feel unwelcomed because that is what is expected for people be able to do. We saw someone park their boat, walk through a campsite to the bathroom and they weren't even from the state park. People were just rude. Also the shoreline was not clean and the bathrooms were a disaster. I will not be back here. Worst camping experience of my entire life at a state park in Texas and I've been to almost all the state parks in the state of Texas. We left a day early because the people across from us were so awful and got our dogs all riled up by walking through the campsite. Awful!!!!!
  • A really nice state park, the are in the midst of doing major upgrades to some of the campsites and roads. We enjoyed ourselves a lot. Its got a grassy beach area with a few picnic tables. We will be back.
