Autzen Stadium, Eugene

Autzen Stadium is an outdoor football stadium in the northwest United States, in Eugene, Oregon. Located north of the University of Oregon campus, it is the home field of the Oregon Ducks of the Pac-12 Conference. Opened in 1967, the stadium has undergone several expansions. The official capacity is 54,000, although attendance is routinely around 59,000 and has exceeded capacity for every game since the most recent expansion in 2002.HistoryPrior to 1967, the Ducks' on-campus stadium was Hayward Field, which they shared with the track and field team. However, by the 1960s, it had become apparent that the 22,500-seat stadium was no longer suitable for the football team. The Ducks only played three home games per year on campus in most years; with the exception of the Civil War, the annual rivalry game with Oregon State, games that were likely to draw big crowds (against schools like Washington and USC) were played north in Portland at the larger Multnomah Stadium. With the recognition that the football team had outgrown the campus facility and with popular support to play the entire home schedule in Eugene, Oregon athletic director Leo Harris led a campaign to build a new stadium on 90acre that the school had acquired for the purpose in the 1950s on his recommendation.Use our Eugene travel itinerary maker to add Autzen Stadium and other attractions to your Eugene vacation plans.

Great venue, UO/OSU Civil War games are the ultimate here
I recently attended an international soccer game here (Paris St-Germain v Internacional Milan) and had a great experience. Plenty of vendors, including local favorites like Dutch Bros. Coffee, and great food. During NCAA games for the Ducks there is NO alcohol served because of sanctions.
A college town with a great atmosphere, highlighted by one of the many amazing sporting venues.
You have got to hand it to the Oregon Ducks. They've grown into a powerhouse. Their stadium has grown along with them. I remember back in the 90s going to games here and absolutely loving the atmosphere even back then. Back when the Ducks were filled with average players who were trying to teach the USC and UCLA scouts what they missed out on. The main reason why Autzen has such a great atmosphere is because of the way the stadium seats are almost ontop of the field. It's steep and fills a lot of seats so it ends up being close to 85K people dominating the noise. It's daunting to visiting teams. I'm an Oregon State fan who grew up in Springfield/Eugene and even as a Beaver Believer, Autzen is one of the most compelling college atmospheres in college football.
This place an awesome. No bad seats in the stadium. Easy access to every entry.
