Tourist Spot
Autzen Stadium is an outdoor football stadium in the northwest United States, in Eugene, Oregon. Located north of the University of Oregon campus, it is the home field of the Oregon Ducks of the Pac-12 Conference. Opened in 1967, the stadium has undergone several expansions. The official capacity is 54,000, although attendance is routinely around 59,000 and has exceeded capacity for every game since the most recent expansion in 2002.HistoryPrior to 1967, the Ducks' on-campus stadium was Hayward Field, which they shared with the track and field team. However, by the 1960s, it had become apparent that the 22,500-seat stadium was no longer suitable for the football team. The Ducks only played three home games per year on campus in most years; with the exception of the Civil War, the annual rivalry game with Oregon State, games that were likely to draw big crowds (against schools like Washington and USC) were played north in Portland at the larger Multnomah Stadium. With the recognition that the football team had outgrown the campus facility and with popular support to play the entire home schedule in Eugene, Oregon athletic director Leo Harris led a campaign to build a new stadium on 90acre that the school had acquired for the purpose in the 1950s on his recommendation.

  • Autzen is a great place to watch a football game. Great crowds. If you stay far away from the student section, the folks are nice, even to those rooting against the ducks. And the big screen means there's really not a bad seat in the stadium.
  • This is a great place! Nice set up. Great place for events.
  • Large, nice stadium. Not too far of a walk from campus but enough to limit noise from events and give space for parking.
  • While you walk through the forest north of the university, a massive stadium emerges from the treeline. And your first thought is not only am I astonished, but I believe in this team. Dreams and babies are made at this arena. Enemies are crushed here. At autzen, it doesn't rain, but rain comes from our enemies eyes.
  • Great place to watch the Ducks play Football. GO DUCKS!
