  • Had a guided tour out of this shop with Mark. Fabulous. We fished a river in the park and caught fish. The only request was to catch a Colorado greenback cutthroat trout and we did. Mark was a great....  more »
  • We had an awesome experience fishing with Jim Boyd! He was super friendly and knowledgeable about fly fishing. We caught tons of fish and had a great overall experience thanks to him! We will be back!  more »
  • My family was out from the East Coast so I wanted to give them a taste of Colorado outdoor life and our 6hr fly fishing adventure in RMNP! We fished at two different spots - St Vrain and a bit...  more »

  • Every year my family and I visit the area of the Rocky Mountains. This year we started in the Grand Lake shop, where we received wonderful customer service from the employees working on Thursday. On Saturday we visited the Estes park shop and did not have the same experience. When we entered the shop, we were greeted by the employee at the front who was a tall boy with long hair wearing a dark green jacket (John was his name I believe). The young man was the same person who served us in Grand Lake. He again helped us set up up a 'dry-dropper-rig' and told us all the 'hot' flies. After leaving we went to the areas he suggested and my children wife and I all caught fish. The reason for the 'poor' review is the way that the employees talked to and about each other. As we were being checked out, another employee came from the back of the shop and began talking about John, who had helped us for the past two days. Remarks included: 'I don't know why they hired him', 'He doesn't know what he's doing', 'He's not the smartest' ‘They’re thinking about firing him’, and so on. The surrounding customers were noticeably uncomfortable by the exchange. The young man checking me out was visibly angry but did not strike back at his coworker. I have spent many years in business, so I understand how bad for a business such poor interactions between coworkers can be for the life of a business. I do not mean to start any issues within the shop but thought this was something that the managers should be aware of.
  • I literally just got home from my guided fly fishing trip with Kirk and Kevin. It was amazing. The gear you get to use is top notch and they are great at helping you fish. They give you some tips and then let you try it on your own without them hovering over you. I highly recommend Kirks Fly Shop for all your fishing needs.
  • We booked a full day guided fly fishing trip. Our guide Jerry was great! He was so patient and fun. He taught the basics to the 2 in the group who had never fly fished before and gave great pointers to the one in the group who had some fly fishing experience. Jerry gave us the option to fish private waters (additional per rod fee) - wet wading- and we caught several large rainbow trout! The scenery was beautiful and everyone in our group had a blast. Also- the fly shop itself was well stocked with everything needed to fish, many different brands.
  • Talk about an absolutely EPIC experience! Just spent the day fishing with Kirk and his outfitting service and I was incredibly impressed with the trip he provided. All the gear we were supplied with was top of the line equipment, the location he took us to was one of the most beautiful fishing destinations I've ever laid my eyes on, and his skill/guidance throughout the day helped get my crew of 9 people ALL on their very first trout on the fly! I have fished with MANY outfitting services over the years and Kirk's ability to put that many rookie fly fisherman on fish in just a few hours honestly astounded me. I highly recommend this guide service if your ever in the Estes State Park region...........hands down, you wont find anyone better!
  • Did 6 hours with Phil and then 4 hours with Andrew on two different days. Went from a first-timer to leaving Andrew and grabbing my own rod, tying on flies he recommended, and I caught a bunch of fish on my own outside the condo where we were staying. Guys were super patient, took me to beautiful spots and really made the week great. I’m looking forward to my next trip back so I can do a full-day somewhere way up high looking for massive cutthroats.
