  • I've been taking friends and visitors to the park and Observatory for 30 years. It is always beautiful and the little hike area is perfect for "non-hikers". I love learning about our solar system in t...  more »
  • This is a cute little place to visit in Kit Carson Park. The mosaics are bright and beautiful. This would be a fun place for children to run around in. The circle is in an area where you can hike and ...  more »

  • This is a great place to go camping. I thought I would have to drive for hours to get the kind of scenery I get here. The weather is perfect during September and they keep it very clean, and well stocked (I'm talking on the TP). They also have some great hiking trails for the little ones with some great views. Can't wait to go next year!
  • The Doane Valley campground is beautiful and quiet. There are some restrooms and water available. Small vehicle only as the road is twisty and the sites really narrow.
  • Awesome park, defiantly want to take the kiddos camping there this summer! We took them fishing at the small pond but our fishing pole sucked so we have something to attempt again next time. Beautiful park and there's a super cool old fire outlook spot that's on the map that's definitely worth checking out, u can see the ocean from all the way up there and it gives some history of the area. There's even a free telescope to use! One of the rangers told us Palomar is named because of the local pigeons that occupy the area! Dr Browner's the guy who made the soap knew how important this piece of forest was its spoken about on the bottles of his famous soap.
  • This place is magical! I can only recommend it to everybody to hike all the trails! Also perfect place for tripping :-)
  • I love coming to Palomar. It's so close and yet so awesome. I've been coming here since I was a kid, fishing at Doane Pond, going to the observatory and all the different hiking trails. I've always looked forward to bringing my kids here and they too have enjoyed camping at Doane pond
