  • I really enjoyed the hike and I look forward to doing it again. From the parking lot, there are two ways to access the trails. One starts off, going uphill. The other way is to cross over the creek, v...  more »
  • We saw this hiking trail is a book and decided to go. It was a great decision! The hike is great and it isn't too packed of a trail even on the weekends. But we do tend to go at about 7-8am. The first...  more »

  • Very nice open space park. We played in the water and did the nature loop. The visitors center was lovely and the ranger and volunteers were very knowledgeable.
  • One of the best recreational hiking areas I've found in San Diego! The primary trail ("The Way Up") can get a little crowded, but there are 11 miles of trails so plenty of other spots that are peaceful. The creek and reservoir make the landscape there more lush than most parks in the area.
  • Good hike for north country! Mostly single track, but some fire roads. The hike begins with a switchback climb up from the canyon. Bring lots of water on a hot day. The hike out to the Lake Hodges lookout is a good 4-5 miles round trip from the parking area and has a nice view. The parking area is too small, but that keeps the trail foot traffic lower.
  • Great hike to take when you want to do something short or long. Offers many trails that range in length . Watch your step for wild animals such as snakes and spiders. If you enter the park to the right you can find a nice seating area with a bench in front of the river that is often secluded and a great place to read.
  • Great place to hike. Crowded trail that is fully exposed. Once you make it to the peak you will notice fantastic view of 7 mountain peaks to the north and east and the ocean to the west. Definitely worth heading up if you are in the area.
