Calf Creek Falls Recreation Area, Escalante
(4.8/5 based on 420+ reviews on the web)
Stretch your legs and soak up Utah's astounding natural beauty at Calf Creek Falls Recreation Area. The towering waterfalls are the highlight of the rocky park, with the lower tier reaching 38 m (126 ft) and the upper tier plunging from 27 m (88 ft) further up. Most visitors to the area walk the lower-tier trail, a moderate 8.6 km (5.5 mi) hike traversing mainly sandy paths, while the more adventurous can scramble the extra 1.6 km (1 mi) to reach the upper falls. There is a dearth of amenities, so make sure to bring plenty of snacks and water. Take a break and refuel at one of the picnic tables provided. Using our online itinerary creator, Escalante attractions like Calf Creek Falls Recreation Area can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • The Park of the campsite begins the trail to the calf creek waterfall. The parking fee is $5, owner of the national park pass can park free. The 3-mile hiking trail (one way) is approximately 1.5 hours. We managed the fast foot track in 1:05 hours necessarily take with plenty of water. The line runs through the Canyon and easy to run. In the desert sand in places coming forward is coming but even more difficult. At the end of the trail will be compensated with the beautiful panoramic view of the waterfall and it is noticeably cooler. At the foot of the waterfall is a small pool where you can also swim (cold!). In appropriate sunlight, great colors are formed on the wall. Out- and way back are the same. Total time: approximately 2.5 3 hours.
