Waldameer Park & Water World, Erie

4.3
At Waldameer Park & Water World you can enjoy roller coasters, kiddie rides, water attractions, and everything in between. This park, which originally opened as a picnic venue called Hoffman's Grove, got its current name when the Erie Electric Motor Company leased it in 1896. Experience the two most famous park rides, the Whacky Shack and the Pirates Cove, which were added in the 1970s. The park also has a number of newer rides, such as the wild X-Scream, and gentler options for kids and families. When you want to cool off, take a plunge down the water world slides or bring your children to the tad pool areas. For travelers who use our custom trip planner, Erie holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Waldameer Park & Water World and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

The new part of the water park portion of Waldameer is excellent! Super modern approach to hands on water play and slides. The wave pool is amazing and so fun for all my kids- ages 6-14. The ride port...  more »

Small but really fun! Admission is free, so you could just come for a few hours or stay all day with a combo pass for the whole park, including the water park. My older kid enjoyed the wave pool and my younger one really loved the kids play area with the splash pads and slides. The water slides and lazy river were awesome. I grew up going here, so it was a nostalgic trip for me and a fun one for my kiddos. There are so many new rides! Don't forget the best candy apples and taffy around!

Great Family Park. Nice mix of classic and newer attractions. Both an old school walk through haunted house and a Dark Ride called The Wacky Shack. Kiddie Land rides from the 60s. Free admission to walk around. Reasonable prices for rides. Season Passes are a great value.

Lot of people but the park is big enough that it didn't really seem like it was over crowded, big water park is where a lot of people hang out. Inside the park is very nice, lines seem to go pretty fast. All the workers were very pleasant. Even the owners were walking around. Very nice day with the family.

Waldameer is nice to visit with little ones. There are several low-key rides for them (went today with my toddler) and you only have to pay per ride, so you don't pay a huge ticket price for everyone to enter if you're only going to stay an hour for just a couple rides. It was too cold for us to visit the Waterworld section, but it looks like it's under construction and set to expand with some nice new attractions soon. I've been visiting Waldameer since I was a kid myself, and it's just as much fun as I remember from childhood.

Great amusement park for younger children! Kiddie rides, adult rides, water park is really good for as small as the park is. Over the last couple of years they have expanded the water park and are still working on adding more new attractions. You do not have to pay to enter the park, but you do have to pay to ride the rides and enter the water park.
