The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton is located in historic Emmitsburg, MD, a small town in the foothills of the beautiful Catoctin Mountain, part of the Blue Ridge Mountain chain.

This was the home of Mother Seton from 1809 until her death in 1821. Her remains are entombed here in the Basilica that bears her name. Pilgrims come here throughout the year to learn about her life, discover the depths of her faithfulness, and to walk meditatively in her footsteps.

  • I love the tour guide there, his name is Andrew. I like his creative story telling and joke integration into the tour he gave my group as well. If you ever go there, make sure to ask for Andrew personally.
  • It's very peaceful, there is a lot of history here for both the faithful and the historian. You get a look into how she her children and founding Sisters survived and some didn't including Elizabeth's own children. Amazing a wife, mother, nun, Saint, the Shrine is beautiful inside as well as the grounds a mere 15 minutes away from Gettysburg PA take an hour out of your day and relax and pray.
