Blue Spring, Eminence

Excellent off the path spring seemingly underwhelmed by the finances of the State of Missouri. The 2 mile gravel road off the highway has a steep grade downward and it is 1.5 lanes in width. I would not be confident I could get a rear wheel drive car back up the steep grade. It would be better if you have front wheel or 4 wheel drive. The spring is about a 1/4 mi mile walk and was an enjoyable 20 minutes for us.

This is a perfect example of nature at its finest. Across the river appears to be a great gravel bar for camping. Many people pulled their campers out and appeared to be having a great time. From the time you turn down the unmarked gravel road, you begin to experience the start of true serenity. The 2.5 mile drive lands you at a small parking lot that contains restrooms and a small picnic table and BBQ grill. As you begin down the path toward the river, the path has small gravel marking the trail. The trail is very easy to navigate, just watch out for the roots and rocks sticking up. Be sure to assist the elderly or others that might have a little trouble walking. As you get closer to the spring you hear the small rapids of the spring running into the river. You begin to see the blue water, the color getting brighter the closer you get. Once you arrive you will experience one of the most sureal places on Earth. A beautiful piece of nature. You will love the experience and beauty that Blue Spring has to offer. It's a place worth visiting while you're enjoying the river, just looking for something to do that's close, or even hours of driving.

Beautiful hike back to a natural spring. Due to underground chemistry, the water comes out a deep aqua blue. This is the 6th largest spring in Missouri.

The blue amazing. The sign said the spring chamber is so deep the Statue of liberty could fit inside with only her torch out. One of my favorite places in Shannon County.

I love this spring! It's always a beautiful spot to hike to and an awesome place to get some great photos. The hike from the parking lot is short and easy with a few spots along the way where you can cool off in the Current River.
