Create an itinerary including Build an Ark Animal Rescue
Build an Ark Animal Rescue Foundation serves as rescue for sheep, goats, rams, alpaca, ponies, horses, rabbits, guinea pigs, baby chicks as well as dogs and cats (and that’s just scratching the surface) allows them to roam and have a peaceful existence in the beautiful North Georgia Mountain at Coosawattee River Resort in Ellijay near Carter's Lake. Most baby animals are available to be adopted out, though some are sponsored to live here by their owners.

Even more importantly, we also serve as a hospice to many aging animals to allow them to live out their years in peace and happiness.

Visitors and volunteers are welcome!

URGENT NEEDS:

****Volunteers (to help with the animals, truck, fence and barn repair, seasonal decorating and assistance at live animal events such as Live Nativities and Passion Plays).

Donations for desperately needed truck repair

Donations for Hay bales which have tripled in price this year due to drought.
Make Build an Ark Animal Rescue a centerpiece of your Ellijay vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Ellijay trip planner.

  • Wow! This place is disgusting and the animals look horrible. This place has a hoarder running it. The amount of junk is unbelievable. The animals looks like they are starving and they are living in...

  • Kids had a blast! Pigs, chickens, ducks running around, puppies, baby goats, horses and donkeys. Run by Donations only, people were so welcoming, gave kids apple slices, Zucchini, carrots etc to feed animals. We spent roughly an hour here, kids would have stayed all day. 7$ per person Donation includes food for you to feed animals. Very nice day.
  • This is a wonderful place to bring your kids and visit for all animal lovers. There are variety of animals that you can pet and feed. To name a few, piggies, donkeys, horses, goats etc. This is a rescue place and they take care of old animals that nobody wants anymore. By visiting here, you help them and animals feel loved.
  • Amazing farm run by wonderful people who truly care about the wellbeing of both the animals and their visitors. We visit every year and brought our daughter this time. She had a blast petting and feeding the animals!
  • Call to check schedule . We almost drove out on a weekday that they are closed on. Anyway, we arrived and immediately was happy to see many friendly animals welcoming us! A few ducks and a donkey:) Went into the barn and was really excited to see the variety of animals! The owner was busy cutting food so we could all feed the animals She was super friendly and was working hard to keep everyone happy. We made our way to all the animals inside and out and fell in love with all them. She had a dog with a noticeable disability but you would never know it because he was so happy and in a loving place ! I have the utmost respect for all they do here for these animals . It was amazing if you love ( as we do) animals you MUST go.
  • My four year old son had a blast and so did all of us adults! For a small fee you get to not only see, but pet and feed the animals. It was a wonderful experience!! I'm including a few pictures I took while there.
