  • This place has an abundance of historic significance and even more information about early Tennessee history. The information available in the visitor center is absolutely amazing but walking the grounds and seeing the actual fort were breathtaking...especially after learning about it in the visitor center. A great place to visit for anyone interested in TN history.
  • A beautiful building, with good AC which is nice on those hot summer days. The interpretive museum inside is well built and placed together. There is a theater inside featuring a film about the pioneers in this area. There is a detailed history of exchanges with the Cherokee nation and the British. Out back there is a settlement recreation.
  • Beautiful park! Very clean and well maintained! There is an amazing trail along the river with plenty of places to stop and rest.
  • The staff and volunteers are always so nice when we visit. And always answer any questions I may have. We went for the 12 days of Christmas today 🎄⛄ and learned so very much! Also they have a walk through place inside with mannequins and places that you to read and learn about the history of Fort Watauga, and more. If you like history you would like to visit.
  • Awesome historical park, museum, and Fort! Must see!! This amazing little historical state park is free (although donations and merch are strongly encouraged)! The visitor center is open until 4 and has a museum, as well as souvenirs for sale. The history is incredible, and well-established and on display here. Recreations are performed here, but sadly, there weren't any in the day we visited, so that gives us a good excuse to return! And return we will. While the visitor center closes at 4, the park and grounds remain open until sunset, so you are free to roam the grounds and take pictures of the amazing historical fort recreations and nature surrounding them. The park is beautiful, historical, free, and a must-see for anyone in the area! Highly recommend a visit!
