  • I think a hotel front desk attendant in North Dakota recommended this little state park to us on our road trip across ND/SD/WY... with an added stop in Montana thanks to her! We really enjoyed our lit...  more »
  • Although this visit was mixed in with a trip to Mt. Rushmore, the SD Badlands, and several other South Dakota parks, I would rank Medicine Rocks among my favorite spots we visited. It was very remote ...  more »
  • The park is very remote and pretty, but heavily defaced. Petroglyphs are there supposedly, but can't be found for all the graffiti. No clear trails, no ranger on duty, no water, no trash, one vault to...  more »

  • This state park has a lot of history to it. The rock formations are very interesting. HOWEVER, the majority of the rocks have been defaced by graffiti. There are hundreds of names craved into the rocks. If you are in the area, it is definitely worth seeing. The trails are easy and short. They look great from a distance. For those of you who left your marks, shame on you!
  • An enchanted place, an oasis in the sea of prairie grasses! I always wanted to see this place and finally did! Didn't disappoint! However it is most unfortunate that louts are carving and putting graffiti all over the rocks. Yes, I know the natives and settlers did also, but surely we don't have to add to the eroding of the rocks? Anyways, nice, quiet, calming and peaceful to walk among these rocks and wonder who was here 100 or 200 years ago in the same spot you are standing on?! Drive slowly, stop often and walk around. Bring a lunch and eat in the shade.
  • Interesting Rick formations. Nice interpretative‚Äč trail.
  • A totally awesome place with some cool hikes around the rocks. The only thing that was sad was how many people carved into the rock over the years.
  • I loved these formations and could imagine ancient people visiting this area.
