What a phenomenal experience!!! We took the "African American Journey" tour, based on a book written by an Edisto native whose family features in much of the history. There's a lot to learn here in this tiny island and the tour guide knew so much of it! We learned about the geography, the local ecosystem, and just the right amount of history to keep us interested. I went home and bought the book! I highly recommend this tour. I know it seems pricey but a huge portion of the profits are going to rebuild family homes of people who have lived on and loved Edisto for generations.

Awesome historical look at local life 200+ years ago vs modern attempts at preserving nature. There is a motor trail around the plantation and foot paths to awesome natural views, including a beach preserved in its natural beauty without improvements.
