Wildlife West Nature Park, Edgewood

4.2
Wildlife West Nature Park provides a very special look into the animals and plants that are part of the ecosystems of New Mexico and the Southwestern United States. All the birds and animals at Wildlife West Nature Park are nonreleasable, in keeping with our philosophy of bringing education to the public without harming ecological balances in other parts of the region. Our habitats are designed to provide the best possible combination of viewing opportunities and harmonious living for our residents, and our animal enrichment programs ensure that our animals are both physically and mentally healthy.

Wildlife West Nature Park provides a broad range of educational opportunities that reach far beyond traditional zoos, hosts numerous local events and festivals, presents concert series, and includes a catering operation with one of the area's best covered amphitheater facilities and a second, fully-enclosed entertainment venue. Our music festivals have become a major regional attraction, drawing acts (and attendees) from all over the nation. The Park's xeriscaping and water harvesting operations provide a real-world example as to how sustainable design can enhance any environment. We invite you to browse our site and learn more about Wildlife West Nature Park - and, of course, to visit us at any time of year!

  • This excellent rescue center-zoo is just about 20-25 minutes from Albuquerque, and I highly recommend a visit. All the animals at the facility have apparently been rescued (each exhibit has the...  more »
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. I have a big soft spot for people who rescue animals and this place goes above and beyond. The animals all look very well cared for, with large enclosures that...  more »
  • Great place for a short trip. There are native animals that have been rescued. It was good for young ones with short attention spans. This is not an all-day zoo trip. It was exactly what we wanted!  more »

  • I loved it being a wild life zoo ! The animals in the exhibit were in good health , especially for the heat of the summer experience. The trail was for the most part easy to follow and self explanatory. However, you could see how time has passed the facility by and some areas need slight improvements, just for scenic sake. The gift shop had typical items for sale. I personally purchased 2 wildlife postcards.
  • Amazing! I love this place. The owners really care about the animals, they host all sorts of events, and it's just fun to walk around all the trails. I live locally, and make it out a couple times a year, but if you're just passing through, and want to stretch your legs and see some cool animals, this is the place to go. P.S. the Bobcats are super cute and will play with you through the fence (I probably shouldn't say that).
  • This is such a neat place that I didn’t realize existed until recently. The rescued animals are amazing to see, and I love knowing that they are safe and sound there. Admissions price is well worth it, and everybody should check it out at least once if they haven’t yet.
  • Probably won't return. As a donating exhibitor for the Park's Harvest Show, I brought my hardware at the invite of the owner. Was promised "We'll feed you Sat night with BBQ" if you bring your hardware. I didn't know the BBQ would cost $15 as 'donating exhibitor'. It cost $75-100 to bring and exhibit this hardware - for the Park's benefit. They could have offered Sat and Sun lunch and/or cold water, which was declined. Disappointed. When someone does your company a favor for monetary benefit, you need to cover their expenses or take care of them by offering some minimum services. The Park did charge for public admission and for marketing vendors.
  • I just love this place, and bless them for being here and taking care of these animals. My favorite is Spark, she is an extremely loving female bobcat, she was captured as a pet once upon a Time and got big as babies do, and guess what, she's still a wild animal but has been imprinted on humans. Velcro is my next who is also imprinted to humans, I bring her apple slices when I come and she loves it. Never thought you could get close enough to pet a deer...... well step right up, she loves apples.
