Alder Lake Park Reviews
Decent lake, clean and enough space for the whole family. There is even a protected area to get out of the weather if mother nature takes a turn. more »
We stayed a week in our rv here...nice large site, friendly host, beautiful lake right fhere a few steps away, and two deer that must live there as well, since we saw them each day. Beautiful area. more »
This is a great campground for tent or RV camping. Very spacious camp sites, we didn't feel intruded on by other camp sites at all. But more importantly the views of Mount Rainier are exquisite. If yo... more »
My favorite lake but the side we go on is free so no big toys. The other side had a $5 fee but it gets super busy and packed on a nice day in the summer. The other side is free. Nicer lake area but no big toys. Or other entertainment for kids. Does have covered area with about 6 bbq-ers and pic nice tables.
Nice like. We found a last minute RV spot here when almost every other state park was full. We camped in the 300-loop, which is a triangle of sites around the playground. No privacy in a any of the sites in this loop, and not much in the main either, but a nice short walk to the beach one way, and the dam the other. There was also a short walk down to the shoreline, not suitable for beginning swimmers as the water in that part is deep, but good place to watch the sunset. Beach was crowded during the 97 degree Thursday, but almost quiet the next day. The swim area has a sandy beach surrounded by anchored logs that are fun to get up on and jump off. Playground, restroom and showers at beach also. Day use area can fill up so get there early. No store in the park, but there is one just outside ( we did not go in). Not a lot of hiking trails, but we walked along am old dirt/gravel road (closed to vehicles) from campsite to Group Camp area and back along a paved road. It is also a short drive (about six miles) to Elbe which has a cute small church ( you can ring the church bell) and there are two different train car dining options, a small general store with an ice cream counter, and the Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad tour.
Great place to go on a hot summers day to cool off and enjoy gorgeous views. As the summer progresses, the lake gets lower, and depending on the amount of rainfall the lake has received, it could be one foot higher than it was the year before. The Nisqually flows through Alder Lake and out the dam at the end of the lake, so the water levels vary every week. At times, which is to be expected, sometimes there are obnoxious teens and sketchy adults that like to come here as well, but there are many different areas you can go to to get away. There are great spots for picnics and BBQ's, and you don't have to swim in just the swim area; you're free to swim outside the area in any part of the lake, but there are no lifeguards on duty at anywhere, so you're swimming at your own risk.
My wife and I just loved this park, The workers there are amazing keeping it clean and if you need anything they will be quick and friendly to help in any way. A special thanks to Gary and Lynette for making our stay wonderful. See you next year as this is now our yearly spot to get away for a few days.
Very nice park, grounds, & staff. Plus this is a great place for children, whether for biking, swimming or boating. It is also good for us "Senior" folks as well. Make sure you mention that you are a Senior, for the discount. Enjoy the stay, we certainly did for the short time. George R.
