I didn't know much about the stories but we was in town so decided to stop. Glad we did Mrs.Georgia was the best she told the history of how the stories became and told the kids some of the stories
If you are a fan of Brer Bear, Brer Fox, and Brer Rabbit, this is a must see museum. If you are lucky enough to be there when Ms. Georgia is working the museum then the experience will be complete. No offense to the other curators, I have not been there with anyone but Georgia. It is a small museum but it is packed full of interesting artifacts. Cap off your trip with a meal at Smith's Coastal Grill and a drive through the historical district.
A small museum dedicated to Joel Chandler Harris a local author of the Brier Rabbit Tales. The museum contains a lot of local history. Plenty of artifacts from the time period that Harris grew up & lived here. Very interesting & well worth the small admission fee. If you want a zip a dee doo da day stop in!
The tales by Ms Georgia made it that much more enjoyable
What a fantastic find. Thank you to lady that spent so much time with us. Can't wait to watch the DVD we bought The Song of the South. Will bring back childhood memories.
