Tawas Point State Park is a public recreation area located on Lake Huron in Northern Michigan near the city of East Tawas, Michigan. The state park encompasses 183 acres (74 ha) at the end of a sand spit that forms Tawas Bay. It has been referred to as the "Cape Cod of the Midwest" and is a notable bird-watching site. The park is home to the Tawas Point Light, which, although it has been remodeled several times, serves as the sole representative of a true Victorian-era style station built on the Great Lakes.

  • We wanted to love this park. After all, it’s bounded on three sides by Lake Huron, the clearest and loveliest of the Great Lakes. The Fox Den cabin was as expected. The two rooms with pocket doors....  more

  • Grounds not kept up, trails impassable...
  • Fighter jets flying over all morning. If the park made this known up front I would have chosen another campground. I am autistic and I choose camping over hotels when traveling to avoid chaos and stressful situations. Imam trying to enjoy a walk in the morning to listen to birds and instead I’m listening to low flying fighter jets. It pretty much ruins every good thing about this park.
  • A very nice state park and cool light house. We spent a little while walking around. Just be careful for ticks. My friend's son had one on his leg after sitting on the beach for awhile.
  • Nice State Park, sites are not as described though. We couldn't fit out 30' tt into a site that says it's 50' uneven and short. But on the positive side, the staff was more then helpful finding us a new site where we wanted to be. Excellent staff and the park was very clean. We will be back!
  • Not sure how anyone could not give it 5 stars. Has a beach, trails, and numerous things to see and do. Always someone around picking up and changing trashes. No where near as busy as the tourist trap of a beach in town and a great little peaceful place.
