  • This is a very small museum and the majority of exhibits are designed for small kids. The staff were very friendly. But, it wasn't what we were expecting as I was with my 24 year old son.  more »
  • An amazing place to spend several hours. Our 3 year old had so much fun as did my husband and me. Lots of hands on stuff. Very nice worker. Fantastic renovation of a historical building. A must see in...  more »
  • A lot of hands on activity for the kids, our kids of ages 7,11 played there for 2 hours, and had no problem to go on, it cost 30$ for family of 5,  more »

  • For a small science center, this place is awesome! We try and support small "discovery" centers because they are more hands on and interactive. As for Powerhouse, it's a cool and funky setting (old power plant) with fun things for all ages. We expected maybe 30 minutes of activity but were there nearly an hour and a half. Great midday stop if you're coming through Durango and need a stretch break. Highly recommend.
  • Small scale science center for a small town. Mostly smaller exhibit but still engaging for wide age range. Worth a visit when in Durango!
  • Great museum for kids and teens! Very friendly staff and knowledgeable staff, plus you can play Kerbal Space Program with a joystick!
  • Great place for kids to learn about science and now they have a brand new makers lab that adults will enjoy as well. Awesome food truck in the courtyard too.
  • Interactive family musuem fun. Come learn something interesting about Durango history!

Where to stay in Durango

Immerse yourself in Durango's rich history by staying in one of downtown's turn-of-the-century hotels, where the buildings' brick architecture highlights a bygone era. Not only do these pack plenty of character, they offer proximity to the majority of the town's eateries, stores, and attractions. A motel farther out of town is typically cheaper, while a rural bed and breakfast is ideal for a romantic getaway. For an authentic western Colorado experience, consider a dude ranch on the outskirts.
