Where to stay in Durango

Immerse yourself in Durango's rich history by staying in one of downtown's turn-of-the-century hotels, where the buildings' brick architecture highlights a bygone era. Not only do these pack plenty of character, they offer proximity to the majority of the town's eateries, stores, and attractions. A motel farther out of town is typically cheaper, while a rural bed and breakfast is ideal for a romantic getaway. For an authentic western Colorado experience, consider a dude ranch on the outskirts.

  • Hidden Jem! this is a great place that is often missed by first time visitors.
  • Wow, don't miss coming to this museum. Spent over an hour here and still ready to come back next time to see more.
  • The exhibits are especially interesting and colorful, including skillful flavoring of the wild west days of law(less?) enforcement, and a fine restoration of the adjacent homestead cabin. The staff are wonderfully helpful, knowledgeable and considerate.
  • This museum has really good exhibits and they have a cool cabin next to the museum. They also have events year round.
