  • I have been here with my kids and this is a wonderful zoo that can easily be enjoyed in a day, but will make you want to come back again and again.  more »
  • We haven't been to the Zoo since the big flood, When we entered like always the staff very friendly. But as we waled around it was sad to see 1/3 of the zoo was boarded off and some animals were never...  more »
  • The zoo should be closed ! It's the kind of place that makes you want to cry for the animals . Most have no room to enjoy life . Small enclosed spaces and they stand in dirt  more »

  • The zoo is very large but has very few exhibits for the amount of space. It seems as if the zoo doesn't quite know what it wants to do. The indoors is well kept up and nicely updated, but most of the outdoor exhibits haven't changed in years. This is by no means a bad attraction, I just believe that there are some better options in the Duluth/Superior area. If you are looking into something similar in the area, I would highly recommend the Great Lakes Aquarium. It does cost a tad bit more, but I believe it is worth it.
  • Quiet Sunday at the zoo. We showed up on a rainy Sunday morning 5 minutes after they opened. After showing our free entrance pass we received from staying at the Munger Inn across the street, we asked if they offered umbrellas on rainy days. We picked up the loaner umbrellas in the gift shop and began our zoo experience. The place was nearly empty due to the ongoing rain so we had a wonderful time exploring and felt like we had been given a private viewing experience all to ourselves. Not the best zoo I've ever been to, but certainly not the worst by a long shot.
  • Knowledgeable, friendly staff and fun animals! Ride the train, it's a big hit with small kids and only a couple bucks to do it! It's worth the membership fee if you'll go more than a couple times and the perks are awesome! We love it :)
  • FYI - this is not a zoo. It's a wildlife info center and you have to buy a ticket to see guinea pigs, birds, bunnies and fish. We spent more time in the gift shop than anything else. Nice gift shop though.
  • Some exotic animals. Many animals were not outside when we were there. Goat pen was closed. Geese everywhere. Maybe we just have really bad timing.

Where to stay in Duluth

Canal Park and the downtown areas offer a full range of lodging, including tower hotels, national-chain motels, inns, and bed and breakfasts. For a more scenic stay, book accommodation with views of Lake Superior. Staying in Canal Park or downtown puts you within easy reach of numerous restaurants, shops, and attractions, but you should also consider bedding down in the historical area east of Chester Park. Many of the inns and bed and breakfasts here occupy turn-of-the-century mansions, and the neighborhood itself offers a quiet respite from busy downtown and Canal Park.
