  • The museum is free and interesting . You can watch boats in the harbor coming and going . Outside you can get right down to the shore .
  • Very informative even if your not a history buff. The story of the Edmond Fitzgerald 'When the gale blows out of the Northwest in the month of November.
  • A really well set out Maritime Museum which covers all of the Great Lakes shipping history up to modern times. Run by the US Corp of Engineers and volunteers plus it is free to visit (donations gladly...  more »

  • Very good place to go learn about the past shipping on Lake superior. Located right next to the lift bridge, which is a site to see when a ship comes in the you get to see the bridge go up. Best of all, it is free.
  • This museum is great because it's right near the Liftbridge and it's free. Your children will enjoy the displays inside. They can learn about the freighters coming beneath the bridge and where they are from. There's also a restroom here. It's a great place for families, and you can walk down to the lighthouse.
  • Great place to take kids for some cool models of ships and history of shipping. Schedules for incoming/outgoing ships are nice also. They have a decent little gift shop and big clean bathrooms. A good place to go while waiting for the lift bridge to go up and down, or to view the lift bridge when it's too cold outside.
  • This visitor center is a very interesting place. It is located on the waterfront next to the famous bridge. There is a small museum. Be sure to visit! This maritime exposition done professionally and with love. You will know the dramatic story of navigation of lake Superior and you can visit the ship cabins of different times. This museum will help you understand the distinctive nature of Duluth. Love this place!
  • A great place to take your younger kids. But as a college-educated adult, I didn't get much out of it. (Sorry for the snobbish review, but it's just my honest thoughts about it). Also, the guy behind the desk seemed super crabby, and we caught him glaring at visitors on more than one occasion (including at us).
