Where to stay in Duluth

Canal Park and the downtown areas offer a full range of lodging, including tower hotels, national-chain motels, inns, and bed and breakfasts. For a more scenic stay, book accommodation with views of Lake Superior. Staying in Canal Park or downtown puts you within easy reach of numerous restaurants, shops, and attractions, but you should also consider bedding down in the historical area east of Chester Park. Many of the inns and bed and breakfasts here occupy turn-of-the-century mansions, and the neighborhood itself offers a quiet respite from busy downtown and Canal Park.

  • Great location and views right next to the ship canal and lift bridge. Lots of great displays on shipping and related industry. Also has a small, but nice gift shop. Best part is its free, no admission!
  • Even our two year old had a blast here. There was some really interesting exhibits. Watching the ship come through was one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
  • Great place with nice exhibits, decent views and plenty of parking available nearby. there are lots of decent restaurants nearby that you can walk to. the bathrooms are big and clean and location is great for nearby attractions. i drove from maple grove MN and stopped here for a break. did not regret it
  • Great little spot. Lots of information and entrance is free. Kids loved it too!
  • Great, free, little museum dedicated to shipping on Lake Superior. They also have screens that show shipping schedules so that you can try and catch a laker making it's way under the lift bridge. Definitely worth a stop... then walk down to the lighthouse at the end of the pier and enjoy the views of the city, the lake and the bridge.
